Hey there. I have just played a game with my Imperial Guard Mechanized army. (2000 points).
Every time I play I usually play with guys that know the rules a bit better than me & unless I know something they are saying is wrong I usually just take their word for gospel in regards to the rules.
Tonight however, none of the mentioned players were present & I was left to muddle my way through the rules as best I could.
I do know most of the rules but the one thing that came up was 'Veterans in a Chimera'. Usually when I play the Tank & the Vet's can shoot independently of each other.
(IE - The Tank can shoot at one target, the Vet's at another.)
Tonight however, the guy I was playing said this was not the case.
As I couldn't find the rule that specifically said they could shoot independently, I was forced to roll a dice & came off the worse.
So my question, Dakka Dakka people is - Have my Friends been lying to me or can the Vet's shoot independent of the Chimera.
If so, can you point out the page number that the mentioned rule is on.
Thanks guys!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the vets a separate unit from the Chimera? As they're a separate unit, they can fire at different targets. A model only has to shoot at the same target as another model if they're both members of the same unit/mounted on the same vehicle.

I can't find the rule atm my head hurt haha. But they can because they are seperate units from the vehical. If you look up vehical rules it says The vehical in question has to fire all its weapons at one time at a target then under transports says models inside can fire at a target only resriction being drawing line of sight from fire points.

That was what the disagreement was about. They are 2 kill points so surely they can fire independently....?

Yes they can if they say you can't take your toys and go home.

Its in the rulebook FAQ on the site.

For this edition, passengers and vehicles are not ONE at all, they count as different choices to be deployed in dawn of war and can fire at different targets, the vehicle can even pop smoke while the passengers fire out of it.

The fact that they are two kill points does not neccesarily mean that they can fire at different targets. ICs with Retinues for example are also two kill points but cannot fire at seperate targets.
I agree that passengers can fire at a different target than the one targeted by the vehicle they are transported in though.
