So, I looked on the GW site and it does not seem to be updated for Chicago, exactly. Is there a listing somewhere showing where stuff is located, when things are happening, the various events going on? Thanks!

10:00 am - ForgeWorld line starts forming
4:00 pm to 6:00 pm - you may exit the Forgeworld line.

Other than that, what else matters?

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

No, but then again, I wasn't standing in the line, just listening to people that complained about having to.)

Expect 3 big GW tables like they had at Baltimore, with large megabattles. I've heard that only 1/3 to 1/2 as many club tables will be at Chicago as at Baltimore. The really, really cool Pelanore Fields/Minas Tirith display won't be in Chicago. After Baltimore I put it and the trophies in my front window. They are bringing up the GW tables from memphis for open gaming and some GW run games. Those weren't at Baltimore this year. No clue if the big SpaceOrk cruiser or squig cake will make an appearance. That's the limited knowledge I have.

I heard Baltimore GamesDay was really....lame....that GW is doing things on the cheapside now. No tournaments, nothing for veteran gamers, none of the good tables, and alot of the clubs didn't produce anything good. One guy I know who has been to almost every Games Day in Baltimore said he might not go back, it was so bad...he was done looking around after 15 minutes.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

That is why I am not attending Chicago this year... Been going for over five years now and each year it gets worse. I totally agree with the Forgeworld line, My buddy's and I got in the line early and was like 14th in line and still took us over an hour to get up to the booth. Then when I got there they didn't have a single thing I was looking for.. Either not released yet (but was on the website as released) or sold out.

Then preview seminar was a joke, they talk about things as upcoming but you could go out to the floor and buy the book. And they have done this for year.. I had the Wood elf book for two weeks before the con and they had it for sell at games day but in the seminar they talked about it like its a big secret.

Other thing that kills me is the build and take...I think these are great ideas...and love them... But when you are throwing down 40 bucks to attend the con and you see some grandma with very young grandchild (six years old and younger), both with free passes gluing a hundreds of dollars of bits and bases into a big pile of crap, then you wonder why they are cutting back on this... I think if they would train their guys to be able to be nice but tell them "no - sorry this is for playing customers"

Don't get me wrong, we need young gamers to keep our hobby alive.. but there is even a age limit on the starter box and the people you play should be old enough read and do basic math to understand the rules..

Ha, that's not dependent on age. I find this proven at every tournament I run. Some people get worse at the basic rules the longer they play.)

Rules? We don't need your steenking rules... Well, I think I shall go, anyways. It sounds like a big mess of chaos and trouble mixed with a smattering of despair. What's not to like?

I'm sure the Chicago area groups will turn out and try to make Chi GD a good one. But with the half-assed performance GW put on at their 'marquee' US event, I'll pass and wait for Adepticon.

Was kinda excited that I moved close enough to go to a Gamesday, but not going to waste my time.

I expect GW to close almost all support outside of GW stores in the near future.

The Grand Tournaments are just a huge money sink.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Quoted for Truth.. I've found the teenagers know the rules better (in some cases) due to the fact that's all they do, is read the are ules 24/7..

I'd try to get you to bet money on that statement, but then I might get accused of insider trading.)
From what I've seen, the next two years will see a lot more support from GW for independent events. They've been doing very well for my shops. We've increased our schedule of modest sized events, and are working towards larger ones. Support has grown in proportion to our efforts.

Games Days look like they will be a lot better next year, and there are plans so heretical in the works, that I shudder to even think of them, let alone divulge the details.
