Yes, I know the title sounds like a strange 60s band, but it is in fact a discussion topic.

I've heard several people theorizing that, seeing as we have plasic Stompas, Baneblades, and various other things, perhaps they will bring out a plastic warhound titan! I bet it would make them an absolute fortune.

I personally think it is fairly likely, although it must have been in the pipeline for a long time, due to the sculpting times.

If this thread is obselete due to somebody at GW saying "We will never make one", or something like that, then sorry, I missed it!

What do you think?

If they did a warhound they actually could make it Imperial or Chaos with just sprues so win win for them. Also they would make a killing selling it.

Yes, an absolute killing.

Chaos sprues, eh? Good idea.

I wonder if they'd release seperate kits for Mars and Lucius pattern ones?

I think it's neither "news" or "rumors".

There's no hints that one is coming out anytime soon. It's far, far behind the murkiness that surrounds a plastic thunderhawk. But hell, don't let that stop people from talking about it for 12 pages, then half the readers will think it's a "confirmed rumor", warseer will steal the thread, dakka will steal it back, and we'll all be positive it's on the way, based on so many people talking about it in no less than 3 threads.

Then someone will post a picture of the old plastic battletech Madcat model as proof that they've seen one.

They haven't put out the plastic Demon prince that we saw in the Demon Codex and Planetstrike, and you think you're getting a Warhound? Easier by far to go work at Mcdonalds part time for a couple months and get a FW one.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Well the bodies on those are pretty different so it would not be like the stormlord/baneblade kits. I would bet on one release but hell that is all I need

Mmmm i'd buy a couple. But i wonder if id feel the same way to the plastic baneblade. Ive got a FW warhound and baneblade, when the bane blade was released i was truly gutted and felt it diluted the novelty of my Baneblade. Wonder if i'd feel the same for the Warhound. Although it would make getting parts for breakages easier. AS some 'nice chap' dropped my pigging titan and of course FW won't sell me a part to repair. *grumble*

a plastic thunderhawk

Now I had heard a confirmation on that one with no real date from a higher up just before they left GW. Although I will admit the lack of info since is very discouraging. The daemon prince thing must just be a snafu as apparently they have a model and can/have made a mould for it. I had hear it was coming out with the second wave of the daemons but dont remember when that is/was supposed to happen.
Either way I can see them doing the Warhound titan simply because the number of people that want one but really cant afford the FW model. Sprues wise I dont see it being any more complicated than a bane blade and would probably take just a little more plastic due to its standing stance. I really can see them doing this if they dont have their heads in their hooty hoos....

A galaxy far far away

I have long admired the Forgeworld Titan, but the troubles dealing with resin and the cost never seemed to justify purchasing one. Now a plastic Warhound I would be all over, especially if it came with all the different weapon options.

A new day, a new time zone.

Unfortunately, all the plastic thunderhawk 'rumors' tied it as a Planetstrike release.

Yes, I was surprised that the Planetstrike release didn't give us any shiny new flying thingies.

If I had to guess, GW is probably waiting for the dollar:pound ratio to go back closer to the historical $2=1GBP before releasing the plastic Warhound. Right now, FW is swamped with orders for "cheap" Warhounds, so GW will take the extra profit on those before doing mass production on Warhounds.

Perhaps GW is planning on a combined Apocalypse Planetstrike release next year?

We were supposed to get plastic Stormtroops along with the T-hawk, IIRC.

Making a plastic Warhound may not actually make them a lot of money, or as much as one might think. Remember, they already sell a Warhound Titan and they sell a lot of them, for quite a bit of money! To make a plastic version they would have to spend all that time and research into designing a model (yes, they would have to redesign it, as plastic it very much different from resin), marketing said model, costing that model, developing the hardware to make said model (molds and such), then box it and ship it. If they price it too close to the Forgeworld Titan, they won't see an increase in sales, and they will lose all that money they just invested. If they price it too cheaply, it wouldn't be worth it either. And that isn't even considering how far to market saturation. I only bought one Baneblade and it is way more than I need, I still haven't even tabled it yet! I know I wouldn't bother buying a Warhound unless it was really cheap, then I would only get it so I could have it, but it would have to be under $100, which it won't be.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I bought three baneblades when they came out at 30% off retail. I have played with all three as scenery once and played with one at Adepticon. I would still buy three or four Warhounds becuase they are just plain cool.

I'd buy a plastic warhound if they made one. And it would be even cooler if they did optional sprues with different weapons, or special chaos bitz to make it a chaos warhound. But they will probably just make a normal one and let forge world cover the other optional weapons.

I thought someone had posted a detailed reason on why Baneblades etc.. are difficult asthey tie up assembly line time or something like that.

As in they could produce them but it would cut into producing all the other models that sell more.

Something like that I remember someone posting about it

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Well it wasn't me who said it, but that is also something to consider; production options. Say you make lollipops. You come out with a new larger pop but it is much more expensive. It takes more time, equipment, and stock to make it, and while you make those larger ones you can't make your ever popular smaller pops. So you have to figure out if you really will sell more of the new ones to compensate for your other production requirements.

@ AdeptArtificer : At my hobby shop someone did buy three of them, they have only used them a half dozen times or so (they say at least). We have over forty regular 40k customers, only about five of them have bought Baneblades, and of our eighty members, at least a quarter own more than three Russes. I would say only a few would bother buying a Titan, thought I can not speak for our "Odd Boyz" who come in during the week or on the weekend just to buy things that we never see game, the store owner says he has sold at least a dozen Stompas, and I only know one of them who comes in to game.

If I had the disposable income and the time to paint Titans, I would get at least three. Why? Because if I only bought one it would be lonely, if I bought two they would get bored. With three, they could at least play games with each other. If I had even MORE money and time, I would probably get six or ten, in even numbers, that way they could do all sorts of silly things, like play frisbee with an Eldar Falcon, baseball with a Necron spire and orks as the balls. Go bowling with Necron Monoliths as the pins and giant squigs rolled up as the bowling balls. Oh the sillyness they would get themselves into....

I heard from the owner of my FLGS that the reason for the delay on the Daemon Prince is that the mold was made, but then some sort of accident happened and it was destroyed. $70,000 down the drain. That on top of shipping the realm of battle by air instead of by sea, which was the reason for the sudden price hike. I just wonder how they'll shoot themselves in the foot next.

I must totally not be paying attention, because I thought that thing had already come and gone. Stuff like that should be available without even having to ask about it.

IMO, both of those presuppose a high level of gullibility. GW used to claim that various steel molds for plastics would "wear out" (impossible). My favorite was how this happened to the Epic molds, only for plastics appear to support Epic Armageddon.

I suspect that GW simply decided to take profit on the Realm of Battle boards, due to their properly concluding that their customers will pay more, even with a last-minute price hike.
