This should probably be in the tactics forum. Anyways, grots should be used for 1 of two things: 1. Giving cover saves to footslogging mobs. 2. Taking wounds for a SAG mek. Take 29 grots with 2 runtherds for the first option, and just make a big line of them in front of your orks. For the second option, take 19 and a runtherd and attach the SAG mek to them. Sit them in a tall building and shoot stuff. And your 'don't go to this website' thing is annoying...

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Ultramarine Master with Gauntlets of Macragge

I have a unit of 10 and a runtherd. I plan to just leave them to sit on an objective and go to ground while my more effective and more expensive troops take objectives on the field. Gretchin are absolutely terrible units with a very high potential for hilarity. However, the previous idea of using them as ablative wounds for a Shokk Attack Gun is pretty solid.
Using grots as actual combat troops is suicide though. They've got the worst statline in the game. They make good mobile cover though. Just don't use them as your shocktroops and you should be able to find some use out of the buggers.
