Hi all I'm brand new to Dakka but I thought that I would launch straight in with a question about modelling and painting that I have been struggling with.
In essence I have found that many TK armies look the same (or very similar) and I was wondering if andyone has any ideas that I could use as inspiration.
I want my army to look very different but it's my first WF army so I need a little help .

I am planning a model at the moment as my Tomb Prince with a scythe (from the VC zombies box) and a large green-stuffed shield.

Thanks for reading my rather pitiful entry to the site .

Well, the first idea that jumped into my brain, if most TK armies are Egyptian looking, get hold of some lizardman banners and shields and create an Aztec/Myan theme instead.

Yeah look for some pics of mummies and stuff from other countries. Aztec & myan would be a cool choice. Or if you look in the army book it mentions barrow kings and I got the idea that they would be more like mummies with a more "Empire" feel to them, so the VC skeletons would probably fit real good for that.

A Cathay themed Terracotta army would work well too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terracotta_Army

GW just posted some nice shots of Liche Priests made from the Empire wizard kit. Pretty slick, unique look.

I'd been planning that Cathay themed Terracotta army for myself. It'd be incredibly cool.

Yup, a non-Egyptian look and perhaps additionally a nonhuman (but still humaoid and human-sized) look are the obvious options. In either case, you're keeping the skeletal bits but replacing the Egyptian equipment and/or the human skulls etc, so obviously you'll need a good source of new bits.

As Necros says, an Aztec/Mayan theme could be cool, using lots of Lizardman equipment. Fluffwise they'd represent a local Tomb King equivalent absorbing foolish human explorers as part of a plan to eventually enslave Lizardmen and take over the continent.

Hmm, or to be different, how about a cold equivalent of Tomb Kings (Ice Kings?), i.e.based in the uninhabitable icy snowswept North (or South) Pole, defending themselves against any invaders or trespassers who will be frozen to death and then reanimated via Ice Magic and absorbed into the army. Lots of rusty ancient weapons from any other races, plus some special enchanted ice weapons.
