I've done half a dozen Forge World models at this point and it's honestly hit or miss whether the paint will adhere. I usually use regular soap and water and I was wondering if someone had a better method for guaranteeing a clean, paintable surface. I'm thinking something like Simple Green.

I've got 3 Ryza pattern Leman Russ' to paint that are at least 2/3rds resin.

I've painted lots of FW resin stuff and all I do is chuck it all in a bowl of very warm water and a cheap washing-up liquid and leave it to soak for 3 hours. After soaking, I give it a quick rinse in clean water. I've not had a single problem with them at all after that.

If you do that and are still having issues, try using an old toothbrush to scrub it while rinsing it off.

What sort of primer are you using? I've used Tamiya and GW with success.

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Good advice.

As for primer, I've used GW and Testors on these in the past, but I'm liking Army Painter now.

i recommend a glass fibre pencil (eg http://www.shesto.co.uk/Hobby_Tools-Abrasives-Abrasives_-_Hand_Use/c89_44_100/p1226/Glass_Fibre_Pencil_-_4mm/product_info.html) and a brass wire brush.
the new release agent they're using on their big stuff is a 'mare to get rid of. This (although sounds extreme) is the only method I found that works.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
