I'm not to sure if this is the right place to post this question so I'm gonna post it anyway.

I've got an idea for a new chapter called The Cannibal Legion. Its involes Space Marines as cannibals. It is there faith that when they die they remain in limbo untill there spirt is released from its shell, so upon death the bodies are preserved untill battle. Before a battle the bodies are butchered and the Marines feast on the flesh and blood of the dead. They beleive that once consumed the spirt is released back into the marines and there power is past on that generation for ever living on. They beleive this is the highest honour a Marine can have in life and in death. In the eyes of the Marines this not a barbaric act, its giving back to the legion. Battlecry "They shall dine in hell, we shall dine in blood". I've got some more ideas for fluff but not much so if you have any ideas it would help alot like gene-seed and home worlds. I would also like to know if you think this would be a plusable idea and not one that would be rejected by the community.

I hope you like my idea, tell me what you think, its just a quick draft but I would like you to just give it to me straight and be honest.
Thanks.

Well, calling them 'The Cannibal Legion' is a bit of a giveaway. I don't know much about cannibalism in the Spess Mehrens, but the Sons of Malice chapter ate both their and the enemy's dead, and were booted out of the Imperium and now serve Chaos, so I doubt that the other SM chapters or the Inquisition would tolerate it.

The only other vaguely cannibalistic practice is the Blood Angels drinking the blood of their Sanguinary Priests to heal themselves.

The Emperor is cool with it, it was him who gave them the name. When he heard what type of warriors they were he respected them and there beliefs and gave them the name.

Uh, the Emperor doesn't communicate with anybody much nowadays, considering that he's a paralyzed, comatose rotting guy.

Actuall they did not start drinkning blood until after Horus stuck his fist through Sanguinius chest. The death of their Primarch caused them to start drinkning blood.

When they heard what people were saying about there beliefs they filed a report of racism saying that there were just like another warrior but had different beliefs and that the accusations slanderous and unfare. The Imperium agreed with this and aloud there way of life to continue. Now years later they are planning to take over the galaxy.

The problem is, in the Imperium, you aren't allowed to be different.

I would field these guys as Chaos Marines or Renegades instead.

There has to be a way round it. I want to keep them as loyalist, but I suppose I can do what I want with them but I would like it to fit the 40k lore.

You could do something like them being a lost chapter as in they were doing deep space recon and were out of communication for an expended period of time. During that time, the guys who navigates (cant remember off the top of my head, I think its an astropath IIRC) dies in some freak accident drawing Chaos in (To punch you guy in the heart) but with the navigation wrong, they have been lost for a millenia or so and have just now returned and no one yet knows about this "peculiar" habit they have formed.....

Sounds good but what about they get trapped in a warp and the only way to survive is cannibalism when they emerge years later have quite a taste for blood.

Oh wow, thats pretty cool too, but I would think that they would want to keep that a secret as once something is tainted by the warp, its not really aloud back into the fold... I would think that the Inquisition would be very interested in "discussions" with the The Cannibal Legion

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Sons_of_Malice < Sound like what you are looking for.

The Sons of Malice chapter turned renegade some time prior to the Thirteenth Black Crusade. It was founded to watch over the Eye of Terror. Events leading to the chapter's excommunication began following the successful end of the Cilix 225 campaign against heretics who had threatened to depressurize three underwater hive cities.

Kathal, Captain of the First Company of the Sons of Malice1, led the chapter victory rites, which bordered on cannibalism, observed by Inquisitor Pietas, a senior member of the Ordo Hereticus. Although flesh-eating rituals are not uncommon among the Space Marines, Pietas was obviously unacquainted with the barbarous customs of Space Marines and mobilized a strike force of Adepta Sororitas Celestians to deal with the "heretics". The Sisters made planetfall right in the midst of the Company at the height of their celebrations. Kathal and his troops responded to the interference of their sacred Chapter rites by savagely attacking the strike force, defeating the Celestians. Kathal dragged the meddling Inquisitor before the chapter altar where she was ritually sacrificed.

The Sons of Malice were excommunicated and now reside within the Eye of Terror, from which they wage a hate-fueled war against the Imperium they see as betraying them, as much as against other followers of Chaos.

Their homeworld was Scelus, in the Cadian Sector, and the grisly tendencies which caused their excommunication were found to be rooted in the barbaric practices of the native, feral world population. These tribes were almost entirely eradicated by the Cadian 331st in a planet-wide campaign of genocide following the chapter's withdrawal into the Eye.

Scelus was declared Perdita. During Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade the Sons of Malice fought alongside the Chaos forces, trying to reclaim their homeworld2.

Their Chapter Master is Kathal, who is now over 1000 years old. Every century the chapter returns to the Labyrinth, an old and scarred ship that has become the Chapter's holy ground and meeting place since the loss of their homeworld. Every warband attends at the correct time, regardless of their current status or who they are fighting. Slaves from every race encountered are then brought to the Labyrinth; each battle brother then retreats to a cell, where they eat the slave assigned to them alive. Every century, some Sons of Malice set off into the halls of the Labyrinth to compete for a place amongst the legendary Doomed Ones. Only one can make it to the end and escape; the rest will either die, or be transformed into the beasts that inhabit the ship as the Warp corrupts it. This challenge took place eleven times, eleven being Malal's sacred number, with each victor's body being stored in a casket until the final champion arose. The eleventh champion was Brother Invictus who, along with the other ten champions, was sacrificed so that Malal could appear and the Sons of Malice could begin their crusade to retake their homeworld.

Thats pretty cool too, but I think he wants them to stay loyal to the Imperium, but I think that may be the closest he is giong to get, but its still a cool Idea. Something equally as cool would to be be have his HQ be able to roll after he downs an enemy figure and be able to "consume" it to regain a wound. This would not be an auto-action, but rather a roll off... But still would be neat.

I though of another idea this is a little different.

Wars have ravaged the legion and has taken its toll on them so the chapter master (name unknown) puts into order "Operation deep slumber" in witch a cyrostasis bucker is built miles underground. This will hold the legion for years to come as they wait for the wars to stop so they can remerge and start to rebuild. Operation deep slumber goes into plan and the cryostasis bunker is sealed not to open for 10 years. 3 days in and a malfuction to the chapter masters cyro tank fails and he awakens. a few weeks pass and the food has run out, starved and going slightly mad at the prosecpted of what lies a head he turnes to his brothers, he takes his sword and plunges it into the first cryo tank he sees only to realise it was his younger brother Marcus. Years go by, he begins to have visions, he talks to his brother quite alot, laughts at him, screams at him, crys at him but in the end he knows that he is lost forever. The Marines wake to a smell that could kill, they enter the mess hall to find the chapter master laying in the middle of what looks like human remains.
Thats how it starts or something lik that.

I think it is more likely that the chapter would fight to the end than retreat. Regardless a chapter that openly practiced cannibalism is not going to last very long once it is discovered by the Inquisition (as shown by The Sons of Malice in my previous post).

They filed a report of racism. Wow. This is probably the worst idea for a chapter I have ever heard, and it only gets worse as you keep posting.
It would be an ok chaos chapter. But the Imperium would purge them as soon as someone heard their battlecry.

Seriously a report of racism? RACISM? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Nobody in the Imperium cares about racism, nobody in the imperium cares about slanderous and unfare(sic) accusations, you either do what the inquisition tells you or you DIE. Eating flesh and drinking blood is obviously a sign of khornate taint.

That "operation deep slumber" crap is exactly that, crap. Why would they run away and wait for the wars to end? They're space marines! They end wars! But your chapter runs away and waits for the enemy to go away and stop being bullies give me a break.

Having cannibalistic Marines isn't a terrible idea. Make them Chaos, and say that when they eat the bodies of the enemies, they eat their very souls. Something evil sounding like that. Ditch the loyalist approach if you're going to have them devour human corpses. That's not a good guy thing to do, even with the questionable morals of the Imperium.

EDIT: Also, "waiting for the wars to end" is an idiotic premise in the 40k universe, what with "There is only WAR!" written right there on the back of the rulebook. Besides, Marines are made for fighting. You would need to significantly rework this fluff to salvage it.

Paint them purple with bone trim...

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Soul_Drinkers

The Chapter's name derives from a mutation in their Omophagea. Normally this organ allows a Marine to absorb some of the memories of a creature by consuming its flesh. Soul Drinkers ritualise this in the "Ceremony of the Chalice". In addition to this, the Soul Drinkers also experience the creature's emotions and memories. Philosophically speaking they "see into the creature's soul".

You could make them eat the brains of the dead, not the whole body. SMs use the Omophagea to gain knowledge from eating all manner of things.
Blood Drinkers, Felsh Tearers, Soul Drinkers etc, they all have a fair bit of Om Nom in their fluff. I say do it.

If the Soul Drinkers can eat their dead enemies, and the Blood Drinkers can earn their name, then I see no reason for a little more exotic gastric pastimes in the SM canon.

But maybe keep it short of eating the whole body, or something? Maybe just the brain. Or the feet.

Look around on lexicanum, they have mountains of fluff. Find out what is acceptable, what is already done, and fit in your ideas in between the lines. Coming on here without knowing any of the fluff but getting mad when somebody tells you that you are not in line with the fluff is kind of ridiculous.

This is a forum, I thought they were ment for disscusions and to give people help or advice and having fun. The kind of attitude some people have puts me off places like this, people seem more bothered with shouting how gak your ideas are, its like some kind of power trip making people feel small "Oh look at my godly status and look at you you fresh-faced new user I am all powerfull" that what its like.

So can anyone help me get round this problem of cannibals in the Imperium and to be honest I don't want your critisicim any more so if you are not going to help then dont waste your time thanks

So essentially you want us to help you without saying any of your idea's are bad?
you cannot truely help someone without giving their honest opinions on the matter so that is what people have done and you seem to think everyone is out to get you.

Alot of your idea's are pretty bad so people tell you, would you rather be posting an army most people consider bad now or when its finished and you have spent alot of money on it?
