Scything talon's give you +1 attacks and venom cannon has assault X so will the scything talons let you also use the +1 attack for the venom cannon? Came across this situation in an apocalypse game the other day.

Your Attacks characteristic has nothing whatsoever to do with the number of shots that you fire with a ranged weapon. It's solely for close combat.

Actually, I think that some Tyranid ranged weapons' number of shots are based on attacks.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

tyranid weapons have X instead of a number which indicates the same ammount of attacks as the model.

EDIT- some have a number next to it which means (number) N x Attacks

All weapons for nids are like that.

Gah, of course they do. My bad... shows how often I have anything to do with Nids...

So, as an actual useful answer: Page 30, where it lists the weapons biomorphs, and explains how they work, states in the 'Rate of Fire' section that the 'X' in the number of shots refers to the creatures base Attacks characteristic, before modifiers.

So no, Scything Talons have no effect on the Venom Canon's rate of fire.

In addition to the rate of fire being done by the "base Attacks characteristic, before modifiers" the Scything Talon rules specifically state "the number of attacks from ranged weapon-symbiotes is not increased"

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Yup Drunkenspleen has it correct. Scyth Talons only increases the number of close combat attacks and does nothing for shot from ranged weapons according to pg 31 of the 'nid codex. That would be nice if it worked that way though.... I might actually play my 'nids more... hehe
