Don't really know where to start to be honest. Was just given this box by my girlfriend who won it in a painting competition and I'm a bit stumped as to what to use it on. The whole thing just seems rather amatuer without anything really useful in it aside from the brass bits.

The resin things look like something I could have made with my eyes filled with maggots and don't actually fit onto the relevant bases properly. The slate I have no use for as I could just pick up the same things from my plant pots.

Does anyone have any tips on how to use things from this box properly? I don't want to waste it but it's making even that difficult. Woah, just found out GW are asking £12 for this in their stores and now I feel slightly ill.

Yeah the basing kit sucks, I got one when it came out and immediately regretted it.

The talus is pretty naff, but comes in handy (it is however a cheap-quality talus).
The resin bits are a royal pain in the backside. To get them to fit properly I find the only logical thing to do is cut an appropriately-sized hole in the base, and araldite the piece in there flush. It's a long job, and pays little dividends.
The slate is self-explainatory really, it's just little stones.

The brass rocks, it's a shame that about 40% of the shapes are completely useless.

I'm just trying to use all mine up now, to get my money's worth! I shan't but it again.

I have scratched my head over this one in a few stores. Not sure why you would need it really, perhaps the shiny brass bits are actually gold. You can always dream.

I think basing kit is cool I've almost used all the resin (I especially like the sm heads) and I have big slates one or two left (do you know where to get more of this stuff). Also when you got those containers empty you can store bits in them. Only problem is that you can't use the big resin bits on terminator bases (unless you cut them) they are too big for that. I try to post some pics.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I got the hero basing kit a while back and that was good, it had resin skull piles that were pretty good, and big slate chunks so your character can stand on a big rock and look important. But the basing kit wasn't as good. the resin pieces have a really thick bottom so that means if you want to add them to a base you have to build it up around the bottom of the resin. Other than that they look pretty good. I used them for a lot of my CSM models.

I don't find it to be too bad, but I only make 4-5 bases then cast them

I've used the small bits of resin base on some 25mm bases such as the SM head and SoB head. Nothing I couldn't have done without the resin to be honest as I have the bits. The terminator one is just pointless as it's just far too big. Will probably have to use it on a sentinel base and put sand all around it.

The brass is fine, I have plans for all of it.

I'm just happy I didn't pay money for it or I would have been a bit knarked.

I used on of the terminator base and just didn't put it on a base, its already about the same size.

As for the brass, its a shame half those pieces aren't alll that useful.

I've actually gotten good service out of the basing kit. You do need to do a little sanding to get the resin bits flat on the back but once done you have nice depth. The brass bits are great and the slate works well for character bases and larger models (Killa Kans and Deff Dreds).

All in all it's a fair price in my eyes. Not an outstanding value but fair.

I can't figure the resin. Do I fill out the rest of the base with filler? Or should I just dig in my Bitz Box to find something the same?

I mixed up the Talus with small gauge rocky stuff from a Woodland Scenics Bag, shook it up, so I now have a nice texture-shaker that gives out an attractively varied covering. Huzzah.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

The small bits of resin are the easiest to work with as you have to build up around it with sand or something textured but I've found that by doing that you really have to decide where your minis feet are going beforehand
