Well, I've decided to see if I can sell my already painted Cadians, and start painting up a full penal legion instead.

I'm going for orange (GW Golden Yellow washed with Baal red) jumpsuits and dark grey (vallero dark grey washed with badab black) armor for the pentient ones, but what colors to use for the penal custodians and other officers (who are obviously not criminals)?

I've thought a bit about a lighter shade of grey (Codex grey washed with badab black) uniforms, and the dark grey on armor to tie them a bit in with the prisoners. However, I feel that this can look a bit drab and boring by itself, and might get a bit lost in the orange sea of jumpsuits.. Any suggestions?

Also, for the vehicles, I'm using orange or dark grey base color, with a fat stripe a bit off center in the oposite color.

I'll try to get photos up, of my prototype models, as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Sarge.

Ooh, good idea!

Thanks for the reply CT Gamer. Sadly, I've JUST bought a plastic command squad box earlier today. Could try shifting it with the rest of the army though.

Can you get mordians in plastic? Color me weird, but I'd really like as much plastic in my army as possible.

Mordians are metal only. Been relegated to the Collectors line now. Might be worth going to bits sites and finding tank commander heads to be officers or wardens

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Great tip, infilTRAITOR. Thanks alot.

I should have some tank commander heads lying around. Enough until I get new LMBT's anyway.

I made my custodians of my penal legion have the same camo as my regular troops but with black armor .

I use Catachans, Last Chancers and Ghosts as penal scum with Cadian bits added to tie them into the army I have. Their gaolers are Cadians wearing regular officer/sergeant uniforms with no markings.

Right.

With most of your suggestions in mind, I think I'm going to make a couple of cadians from the tank officer bits. And then use the pentient ones as a codex penal legion in my cadian army while I build the rest of the orange horde.

Who knows? It may get TOO orange out there..

Thanks everyone for your input.

Why orange? Why not the classic black and white striped overalls?

lol! That'd be funny as heck! If I'd only been any decent at painting straight lines... I thought about making the Penal Custodians in blue pants and red shirts with number-plates on them, but it felt silly. Though I'm most likely going to try it, just for the heck of it.

Prime white and draw the lines with pencil. Touch up when you go outside the lines.
