I played a 1500 pt battle last night with a friend and had a squad of Chosen. As we're still learning the rules we opted to D6 whether or not they could infiltrate after the DoW deployment phase which would've been my turn as I was player 1. I won the D6 off, as well as the battle, and tonight my friend said that if I hadn't been able to infiltrate after deployment I wouldn't have won. Rather than turn it into an argument we tabled the discussion until I could post here. Please clarify this rule

Death to the false emperor and to light beer!
Adeo Mori Servus Imperator Fictus!

Ok, so after standard deployment the rule for DoW reads:

"Troops and HQ units that can infiltrate, can do so, as long as at the end of deployment the player still has a maximum of one HQ and two troop units on the table. Lastly, players make any scout moves." Pg 93 BRB

Yes, you can infiltrate in DoW. Just curious, what was the justification behind his arguement? This seems pretty simple to me, but I know my crew and I always have little arguments that seem fairly easy to solve looking back at it.

Chosen are elite, so you can't infiltrate them in a DoW mission

In reply to Illumini, that seems correct, I second that.

This is Daemonic Cheese:

3000 Pts
2500 Pts
1000 Pts (And growing)

I'd put a quote here, but XKCD would have a better one.

Thanks for the responses, the reason I thought I could infiltrate is because as I read it infiltrate, like scout, is a special rule that supersedes deployment.

It changes how the unit is deployed. The unit still has to be able to be deployed in the first place.

Oh, I missed the part where Chosen are elite, so you would not be able to take those, but any other troop/HQ choice with infiltrate would be able to.

No, you are able to do it as the game type includes infiltration as its method of deployment. Should a game not allow special types of deployments (other than the standard deployment), the only option you have left is if your unit entries in the codex superceed the BRB (I know the IG have one such unit that superceed a deployment option, although I'm not sure if it is infiltrate)

Does this include a deep strike or outflank move?

Units that deep strike are treated as being held in reserve... unless your playing a game that doesnt allow reserves or something...
