I'm thinking of mounting my captain on a bike so I can use a bike squad as a troop choice, and I am asking everyone from dakka dakka is it worth the points to mount my captain on a bike You Make Da Call.

If you walk a mile in another mans shoes you will be a mile away from him and you will have his shoes.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

Well, it depends on your play style, and what you want to achieve - you will probably get better answers if you have a Mod move this thread to Tactics or Army Lists

It is fun but sadly the toughness 5 boost is not worth the points, no matter the twin linked bolters or the availability of special weapons, also don't forget that you have to take squads of 5 models...

it is expensive, but great agains specialised armies such as marines and guard, you can task specialised squads, and include attack bikes boosting your wounds in a squad in your 5 bike minimum, with the 12 inch move, and poss multi-melta/melta X2 squad you can have FUN killing AV14
with hvy blter, plasmaX2 and twin linked bolters you can also have fun killing infantry!
then once they are wiped out, or if you just need to survive, use the turbo-boost invuln save!

overall it is fun, but dont expect to beat an army in CC, you just get bogged down

Space wolf theemed marines marines 3000+ W5 L18

Homebru deathwing 2000+ W,1 L,1

so what If I am crap!

Another thing to consider is the ability to turbo-boost a pack of 3+ T5 Troops onto objectives on the last turn. High speed=stolen or contested obj. FTW.

No one kills more threads than me. Maybe I leave nothing else to say. Maybe my comments suck so hard people are left stunned. Who can say.

I never thought of that, now I need a squad of them and a captain on bike because 75% of the time my friends roll capture and control.

If you walk a mile in another mans shoes you will be a mile away from him and you will have his shoes.

Stelek and his fellows are all about bike troops and even make whole armies out of them. One of them is at http://www.yesthetruthhurts.com/2009/07/space-marines-fast-n-slow.html and there are more. Pretty neat concept and you can pick up that whole army for <$400. Gift certificates at X-Mas FTW

Before you attribute anything, Khornatedemon, Somnicide and bigmact68 here all advocated the bike marines, and particularly the sallies on wheels list.

Didn't look like he was handing out creation credit.

I saw "stelek and his fellows are all about bike troops..."

I'm all about bike troops as well... and to the OP. Either the captain with a relic blade on a bike and troops bikers, or a biker captain with a biker command squad geared up for CC, with biker troops are two very competitive and very smart ways to play SM.

Please check out my current project blog

Feel free to PM me to talk about your list ideas....
