I am a newcomer to 40k and looking for some advise. Please help me choose between the crimson fists and the blood angels. Both have a great history but the BA edge out the fists with slightly more unique units. I would appreciate your input on not only the pro and cons of which side, which side you would pick and maybe a small sample army. I really am a brand new player and am hoping to get off to a good start with the advice of some 40k pros and vets

Which chapter?
Why? Pros and Cons
Sample Units/Army for about 750 pts?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Well crimson fists are made from the vanilla codex so it's more flexible whereas the blood angels have there own specific codex. I've never made a crimson fist list so I can't realy help much more than that until I think about it for a while.

Really, you need not bother with an established chapter. You can have an army with Shrike and Tigurius ... just change their names and paint jobs.

You might want to hold off painting and buying specific models just yet; Space Wolves will be released soon (in publishing terms that could be next year) and they are ever a differently played army than any other SMs.

For now, I'd play the codex SMs, prime your models black, dry brush 'em, paint their bolters, Purity Seals and skulls. Nice table top quality.

Keep reading through a couple books until you really get to know the system and can then appreciate the differences in BAs, DAs, BTs, and eventually SWs.

Use the vanilla SM codex so you can have access to multiple different HQ choices with many different abilities. Just custom make your own models for the HQ's and just use rules for a named character. I personally don't think blood angels have enough options but that is just me. I prefer the flexiblity of the vanilla codex.
