I live in the Bay Area so this stuff is everywhere, although the rage has died down a bit. I remember seeing one of the Heiro members being attacked for winning a freestyle battle, it was pretty crazy. The cops cut of E-40 like a half hour before he was supposed to leave... CUT OFF E-40!!!

I am a big fan of trip-hop, and most of the newer blends so to speak. Pretty tired of the same format, but it is funny how I can compare some of the hooks to a lot of these songs to classical music.

What makes a good hip hop song?

Two things keep a song on my MP3 and are required to be a 9/10 or better.

1. Cant remind me of an era. I don't want to hear or feel the 80s or 90s when I play that track. Exception: if its clever or funny in a way I just cant deny IE: Humpty dance, me myself and I.

2. Cant be hardcore. I dont cap hos so I dont want to hear people rap about it. I like music that truly tries to be smart and artistic, so youre either rapping about yourself, a funny situation, real life, or in the case of Kid N Play, nothing at all, just having a good time.
