This came up in a game the other day. I was playing against a mech SW force and came in contact with a Razorback that had been sitting still from the prior turn w/ my monsterous creature.

When I went to roll the player said all of his vehicles had moved the prior turn. I questioned this as I know they had taken up shooting positions behind some difficult terrain. He responded that they all moved a fraction of an inch and while he hadn't declared this it was standard to say so (for players in his neck of the woods) and that my questioning the movement was quite daft for an opponent.

I allowed him to consider the vehciles as having moved but I wondered is this standard practice to say a vehicle has moved, or pivoted after every movement phase to gain the benefit of 4+ to hit?

If you were an opponent would you require the declaration of a vehicles type and distance of movement in every movement phase since it does impact shooting?

I don't really have the issue with moving 1/4" (or less) as I do with the fact that it should be readily apparent to the opponent that the vehicle unit choose to move for the turn.

Any experience with this? Under what cases would you not allow the movement (even if declared). Is there a minimum that a vehicle must move to be declared as mobile?

When playing my Legion of Brass Khorne army I always ask during each enemy movement phase how far each vehicle moved. This helps keep me informed, and them honest!

I would never allow someone who had not moved his vehicle count it as moving though. They also should suffer the requisite penalties associated with moving them as well.

There isn't a minimum movement of any kind, but if I assaulted a vehicle that my opponent hadn't touched and he'd told me that it had moved an imaginary 1/8" I would laugh at him and start rolling to penn.

I am ok with players who move their vehicles an "imaginary" fraction of a millimeter to get the 4+ to hit bonus, however, they MUST make sure that they declare it every turn, because I pay attention to that, if they fail to tell me, then I autohit and wreck some face.(some of my units have meltaboms)

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

He knew you weren't a local familiar with all their house rules, right? Either way, it is his responsibility to play by the rules unless you both agree to something else.

If he had never played you and didn't ask ahead of time for certain vehicles being considered as having moved, that is his fault. He is the one being daft. More likely than not, he was just trying to take advantage of you.

He was a douche. If you don't make a visible movement with a unit then it's incumbent upon you to inform your opponent what you're doing...and quite frankly, if it's 1/4" then he could have laid his hand upon the model, nudged it back, and at least had a leg to stand on.

I agree with the previous poster: appropriate response is laugh and roll to pen. If your opponent wishes to pick up his models and go home, so be it, win for you...if he's truly the sort of WAAC douchenozzle that he sounds like he should appreciate your enjoying racking up the win in such a manner...

We always say that if you do move something you have to say, it's only fair. Even if it's only "This drives forwards an inch" or whatever.

For bigger moves we don't always say the exact amount but we say what speed category it is in, does help keep people honest this way and also leaves a bit of guesswork as to whether you'll be in range for the charge/shot etc.

Yeah, we always make sure to say if we're only moving an inch to get the 4+ save. // Edit not save... ;P;P;P;P 4+ to hit! my baaad

and while he hadn't declared this it was standard to say so (for players in his neck of the woods) and that my questioning the movement was quite daft for an opponent.

Does this also mean they never fire heavy weapon shots from rhinos? or only fire one of the predators weapons? Saying its daft to question that movement is quite daft imo

Wow, I (and I know my friends that play) would have never been ok with an opponent (either me or someone else) just saying that it moved a fraction of an inch without touching it. Now if we had touched it and moved it barely any, then I would be ok with it, but it sounds to me that he forgot to move it and stated that it had moved a fraction of an inch because he did not want to lose it.... And also as Superior has stated, does this imaginary fraction of an inch preclude him from firing heavy weapons? I would hope so.

If he says it moves, it must actually move and be in a different position from where it started. The RAW are unequivocal

Note: when assessing how far a vehicle has moved,
only take into account the actual distance covered from
its original position. Moving backwards and forwards or
driving around in circles does not help!

Not only is is RAW, but practically, if he is declaring a 1/4 inch move every turn, then that distance is going to affect the distance to assaults. Ive missed plenty ot assaults by under an inch (soo frustrating).

So its not enough to declare 'i move' - movement must actually have happened.
