Fukui Ken

Hello everybody,

I'm in Japan and looking for Warhammer 40k/FB players, the older and the more laid back the better. I`m a born again newbie to both - gave it all up as a 17 year old (the peer pressure thing) and here I am, mid-thirties getting sucked back in once more. I am really enjoying the whole process of choosing the army, making the purchases, assembly and painting. Very satisfying and relaxing thus far. Forgot how much bloody fun it all is. I confess I feel like its a bit of a childhood regression but if it feels this good it must be right. Or something.

I used to play WFB 2nd Edition, and 40k 1st Ed, in those heady, halycon days of the pointy helmeted marines. Now, time has passed, everything has changed, and I am eager but now find I don`t know my arse from my elbow...it's pretty much a case of starting again. I`ve played a couple of games with guidance, but I am still in the process of learning the new rulesets. The painting skills are still there though. I have met up with a couple of cool lads in nearby Kyoto (a fellow Brit and a Russian), who got me into the hobby again, but they don't live near to me. So, if you do live in the Fukui-ken area and are interested in gaming, get in touch.

I`ve made the initial investments for a small ork force which I am currently glueing in a frenzy (picked up AoBR and the Ork Battle Force whatjimacallit) , reasoned that orks would be tactically a good bet for a returnee like me. Incidentally also started a WFB force of Brettonians. So far I'm thoroughly enjoying this return to nerdery, thankfully the girlfriend seems reasonably tolerant of it (but she still looked at the contents of my gaming drawer this weekend with a mixture of slight disappointment and barely veiled contempt).

I also do rpgs, which are at present at least, my first love gaming wise. I run Call of Cthulhu when I can, and with friends am also trying to get a WFRP campaign off the ground. If you are in the area and interested in any of the above, let me know.

Cheers
Pellinore

IIRC there is a shop in Kyoto called Yellow Submarine (around Kawaramachi Shijo) that sells GW stuff. but it's been a few years since I was last there.
