In the Coodex, it states thatRhinos come with a storm bolter, and may purchase an addditonal one for 10 points. My question is: where is the first (built-in) storm bolter, and if it is pintle-mounted, where does the second one go (i'd assume the second pintle). And if that's the case, can I still have 2 models fire out of the holes if i take the second storm bolter?

Unless the upgrade states it does, the storm bolter should be on top next the other one and it shouldn't limit your fire points.

There are two different mounts for the storm bolter included in the kit.

The pintle is one. The other is the hull-mounted pivot that is also used as the mount for the hunter killer missile launcher.

According to the current FAQs, they have the same fire arc, so it really doesn't matter which you use.

The Rhino's fire point is the big rectangular top hatch, not the round cupolas. So yes, you can still fire two models from the fire point with 2 storm bolters mounted on the rhino.

In that case, when firing from the hatch, can a marine fire a flamer? part of the template will be over the rhino so does that count as "over a friendly model"? or do you fire it from the hull?

This has been discussed quite a bit already (and probably several times before my Dakka debut)

Essentially RAW, no. But that makes Razorbacks and other turret mounted vehicles that can have templates a bit silly since they can't fire.

RAI is probably yes, but it clearly violates the rule you stated. It would be an important thing to discuss before playing your opponent and, if necessary, roll-off.

Myself? I would let vehicles fire their templates even if it 'touches' them but it seems rather dangerous to have a guy squirting his flamer out of the hatch. Besides, I like Meltas and Plasma much more.

Regardless, it would never be appropriate to fire a passenger weapon from any other location than specified in the transport details. Firing from the hull would not only give you a big advantage in any direction but it doesn't make any sense physically.

Sounds fair to me. Plasma and Melta are more fun anyways.
