I know, there have been heaps of threads like this, but I have noticed a distinct lack of ones for australia,

To remove paint from plastic models without damaging them or the glue use the 'earth' brand of disinfectant spray, it takes about 24 hours soaking then it should come right off, this is in lieau of using 'simple green' which us poor aussies dont have access to in the great south land, the earth brand spray is all environmentally friendly and doesnt have any of the nasty stuff others do

for metal models, soaking them in turps for around 12 hours, then soaking them in metho for another 6 seems to work, just get a toothbrush and go to work, the paint comes off so fast it'll make your head spin, that said, glue doesnt go away, especially super glue, anyone any ideas to remove super glue?

Just a man, standing in front of a paint pot, trying to remeber if I rinsed boltgun metal in it.

May not be the best method, but I'll bet it would be the coolest/most fun.

Well, this sounds silly, but grab a few cans of cheap deodrant.

Spray the deodrant for about 10seconds on the model (I would try with a bit of plastic sprue first to make sure it doesn't warp) and then scrub it with a toothbrush.

Repeat this until the paint comes off!! It worked for me!!

EDIT: I only tried this with metal models and a SM backpack (both turned out fine).

Cheers,

Jack.

OMG bunnings has simple green? AWESOME
I've been looking around for that everywhere, nice to know where it is sold in AUS.
I'mcurrently experimenting with Easy-Off BAM Power Cleaner/Degreaser. Which doesn't harm models in any way (after 1 week of soaking) but doesn't loosen paint as much as I'd hoped, scrubbing will take a LONG time.

hmm, after about 12 hours soaking the earth dtuff hasn't lossened the thicker paint but the exposed plastic and glue is unaffected

I still fall back on the old standby; generic brakefluid.
Available absolutely anywhere in the world.

That's also what I use.

It helps that the auto store is closer than the hardware store, too. Also means my primer is closer when I run out.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
