The thing that makes plague marines so freaking good is:
T5. Pulse rifles wound on 4's, bolters wound on 3's, lasguns wound on 2's!

Feel no Pain, everything not S8+, or AP1-2 must get through a 3+ save AND a 4+ save, AP3 still has to beat the 4+ save.

2 Special weapons. Regular CSM can only take 1 melta or plasma, and 1 heavy weapon, plague marnies can take 2 plasma or 2 meltas, but no heavy weapon.

They're ballin' lookin'. Seriously.

Ummm......yeah. That's not good

Try Pulse Rifles on 4's, Bolters on 5's and Lasgun's on 6's (!!!!!!)

Other than that though hes pretty much right. Put 'em in cover on an objective and they just wont die! Plus plasma and melta.....

You just couldn't handle the truth. God knows why anyone would want that cookie anyway. I can only imagine what foul demons possess such a thing as to make it stand on its side like that. I prefer my cookies horizontal and without eternal damnation. - Ridcully

Either that or take a 4+ cover save from all of GW's red tape blocking LoS to the way to play it. - Kitzz

Well, PM are one of the best troop units in the game.

Give each squad two special weapons of the same type.
This allows to outfit the squad defensively with plasma guns in order to hold an objective, or to configure it with meltas or flamers and add an AC with power fist.

Apply all of that to me calling you he. I'm sorry it's just so rare to find a FEMALE on this place. I totally apologise.

Dont forget that they are also fearless and have defensive grenades.

Anyone that charges them will lose their bonus attacks, which takes a lot of bit out of most combat units.

They will never break from shooting and in the rare event that you lose combat you have a 3+ save and FNP to mitigate the loses from 'no retreat'

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Change thread title to "CSM - PLAGUE MARINES" so people know what you are talking about.

CSM = Chaos Space Marines

CMS = ???

Daemons were assualted violently with the nerf stick in the new codex, I have watched storm guardian (T3 S3) take out a Greater deamon in a single turn of close combat,

I also lost a Lord of Change to a 10-man Penal Legion squad the first turn of a game, but that doesn't mean it's likely to happen. That seriously sucked hardcore though! 5 wounds inflicted, 4 3+ invulns failed. That same turn my Keeper of Secrets rolled 4 hits, 4 1s to wound some Grey Knight termis. It was not a good day for the MCs. Greater Daemons in the CSM dex are awesome though. The only thing to keep in mind with plaguers is that with their high cost you'll be cutting your nnumbers pretty significantly, so throw a squad or two of regular CSM to help a bit.

In 1000 points PM are a bit exspensive, so i would take 2x 10 man CSM squads with double melta and mark of nurgle to keep the theme, then in 1500pts say there Plague marines.

The MoN sucks, you might as well use Plaguers for the point cost. Do the mathammer and see what all you lose out on. The only time it pretends to be worth it is with a 20-man squad.
