1: If an XV8 with an Ejection System is destroyed, does the opponent gain KP then, or when he actually kills the pilot?

2: Can Sniper Drones move and fire their Rail Rifles?

3: Do Farsight's restricted units count as 0-1 each, or combined?

Thanks for your help

#1 is a question of RAW versus RAI. The intent of this item is pretty obvious that the enemy would not gain any credit until slaying the pilot, however using vehicle drones as a precedent, I would have to say under 5th edition rules the suit itself counts as a kill point, as would the pilot if slain. Which kinda sucks.

#2 is an interesting situation. Would love it if this worked, but I'd have to say no. I don't remember the exact reasoning at the moment, but I recall that stealth teams with markerlight drones can fire, then move 6" in the assault phase, but cannot move in the movement phase if they wish to use that markerlight. By the same token, the sniper drones wouldn't be able to move in the movement phase and fire, and the drone controller doesn't have the ability to move in the assault phase, as he has no jetpack or equivalent.

#3 is an easy quick answer, 0-1 each.

#1 No kill point until pilot is taken as a casualty. The unit is not destroyed, the model is replaced. Pg. 26 Tau Codex
#3 0-1 each

@Malecus
Marker drones that are part of a stealth team can in fact move fire and jump. They are unit type as owner which is jump infantry and has the Jetpack rules. BGB pg. 52 "Models with jet packs have the 'relentless' special rule (see pg. 76)

Sniper drones cannot even stay stationary and fire (according to some RAW adherents) because their target locks 'don't work'.
I mean, I believe that stance is a load of gak, but be prepared for opponents who would say that.

1) when he kills the pilot
2) No move and fire, because they are Infantry. Marker drones taken with XV8 or XV25 suits can fire, Gun drones taken with anyone can fire.
3) 0-1 each.

So you think it is possible to succeed in a roll that does nto exist?

(not trying to get into a debate, I did this a few weeks ago, but my stance (and one that seems to be backed by the majority of people on this forum, in my gaming club, gaming stores and tournaments) is that you do not have to succeed in a test you don't have to take anymore).
Not posting in this thread anymore.

people have referenced this rule(Target Lock) to the outnumbering bonus of Thornback(for Carnifexes).

but, while outnumbering is no longer used in combat resolution there is still a definition.
Unfortunately it exists in the 4th edition rulebook.

the same applies to target priority.

except that Target Lock calls specifically for target priority in the shooting phase.
Target priority used to apply generically to all armies.
The FAQ for BT(black templars) still requires a TP test.
TP is only defined in the previous rulebook.

I propose that Target Lock still uses TP.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
reason: codex over rulebook
RAI: since current rulebook does not define TP go find most recent BRB that does define TP
RAW: Schodenger's TL, it does and it does not function
