Blood Sacrifice to Khorne

Hi!
My friends and I have recently just started 40k.
My friend bought AoBR(Assault on Black Reach) set and said I can have the Space Marines.
I want to Convert my Space Marines to Chaos Space Marines.
So any Conversion tutorials or tips for a new gamer?

I dunno you could by a box of choas marines and do some head swaps with what heads you would have left. Also yha pretty much just add spikes.

Never say die! Never surrender!

Buy some Chaos marines and use the extra bits, blackreach marines arnt the most convertable considering the only parts you have to glue to them are the gun and backpack (cutting the heads off might be disasterous). The Termies are a little better, arms are seperate. If you wanna make it easy paint some toothpicks black for spikes, with a skull here and there or some gore made of greenstuff.

toothpick idea doesn't sound that bad for now

Buy a blister of CSM backpacks.

When I converted my Macragge Marines to Chaos Marines, I simply cut off the heads of the regular marines and replaced them with CSM heads (Obviously re-positioning them to get a cooler-looking model)

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Wait isn't there the chaos vehicle sprue, that should contain enougn parts.
And you should think about which choas god you like, nurgle would make it a lot harder.
Khorne would be the easiest. And coolest.
Well that's just my 2 cents.

Chaos is one of those armies where for me anything goes, you can grab any part from any of the ranges and convert it to suit your marines, the limit is endless! what you could do is sketch out some ideas and colour schemes on some paper and go from there.

Good luck and keep us updated!

I would advise taking the Marines and carving big crosses, slashes over the Imperial icons, so they look like they have removed the hated logos. You could then glue on some spikes made with cocktail sticks, and perhaps some chains, skulls etc here and there.

Then, buy a few real Chaos Space Marines and assemble them. Mix the AoBR Marines in with those (so each unit has a mix of converted and normal Chaos Marines). This will blend the two sets of models together so it is less obvious you converted them.

Omadon's Realm

Red corsairs are recently betraying chaos marines, so many will still be in their imperium armour, effective paint scheme and minor conversions using chaos bits will sort your marines out quickly, go to a bitz seller online (I use bitz box) and order some bits you like the look of.

If there are other guys in your area who play chaos maybe you can buy some bitz like heads and spiky chaos bitz. Or if he is kind enough he could give it to you for free!! (if you ask him nicely!)

like what they said add spiky bitz, and shave some parts off the eagles and Imperial iconography.

And you could cut off the skull bit and replace it on the Sgt. head, or just paint the head in a pale dead like fashion.

Then they will hold hands and be HAPPY!

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Small chain and spikes are easy enough to find and are the cheapest way to convert models to chaos if you are strapped for cash. Otherwise just look online for 40k chaos bitz and you'll find chaos items to customize your units. Also look into getting some greenstuff if you have some modeling skills.

A good chaos themed paint job will do most of the work for you though.

Give them spikes and ruin the Ultramarine symbols... and give them a pansy name like "Pink Lillies". That never made sense to me, how did the Regular Space Marines end up with the terrifing/evil-sounding names while Chaos has "Emperor's Children" and "World Bearers" or Eaters or whatever....

Depends on what god you pick for chaos.

Undivided: add skulls and horns where needed.

Khorne: horns work well, chains and skulls work even better.

Nurgle: GS works to no end.
adding bloated bodies, boils, cuts, tenticles, should look good.

Slaanesh: use GS once again to form skin around leg armour, sculpt faces into armour aswell.

Tzeentch: flames work well, plenty of battle damage will also help to make them look good.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Spikes , blades , and such can make them look chaos but it also can be done with just a proper paint job as well .

Yeah, it can be really simple. If they're newly-turned 'renegade' marines then you just need to file down all the imperial symbols and paint them in an evil color scheme.

The simplest 'conversions' would be chaos marine heads or backpacks. Or get hold of the 'chaos mutation' sprue, which has lots of chaosy arms and heads.

EDIT

Found it - this sprue is a godsend for anyone converting chaos...
