so ive been seeing a lot of fire prisims around lately... and i am woundering if they have taken the slot the falcon once filled.
i have the apoc box of 3 falcons... and 2 remain unbuilt. i was thinking of bits ordering the parts to make them into fire prisims.
so in everyones oppinion out on my interwebs, which is the overall better choice... falcon or fire prisim???
P.S. i am going to run a mech force if that makes a differance.

Fire prisms are very points-efficient for the amount of destruction they can case. Falcons are not. Sure, Falcons have troop carrying capacity, but so do wave serpents that are much cheaper for the level of protection they add.

Falcons are very niche now. As a transport waveserpents are almost always a better choice for the points. As a weapon platform fire prisms are always better.
The only time I use falcons is if I'm doing somthing like toting Eldrad around with 5 dire avenger to make it scoring and using the unit as a force multiplier.
I say, make them into fire prisms.

Fireprisms.
I run a mech eldar list with fireprisms they are the way to go, much more reliable and effective and in a greater set of situations:
Big Blast
AP2 Blast
AP1 if Needed
60 inch range > Falcon
Potentially twin linked
Cheaper
BS4
The only thing they loose out on is the transport capacity. Other wise they are always better.
I don't even own any Flacons anymore and I have 12 painted Eldar tanks.

I would go with the fire prism option as well, but why not build both turret types and magnetize them? get a little versatility for you money.

I was going to say what j-roc just said. Do order the parts, but magnetise the weapons so that you can field either or. Maybe Falcons will become godlike next time they update our codex, and it would suck to have 3 super glued Prisms then lol
A Falcon with EML can put out 3S8 shots and can take a DAVU, which isn't bad at all. For long range fire support though, I'd go with Prisms. (I currently run 2 Prisms and 1 Falcon in my 2500 point list.) So really, both are good.

FIRE PRISMS. But really, depends on your list (as does anything.) Fire prisms are a very good heavy support option, however.

I prefer Fire Prisms these days.
Keep them in the backfield and the enemy will have a hard time to shoot them if you offer enough tanks to shoot - target saturation.
Falcons lost an edge in the incarnation of the game.
I'd take one and mount 5 Dire Avengers for scoring purposes into it.
