http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/retribution-of-scyrah/solos/dawnguard-scyir

Ranking above captains and thanes, scyirs are trusted to lead large, mixed task forces that include all branches of their own order as well as other warriors of the Retribution. Most are sons and daughters of nobility who have proven themselves to be the elite of the elite, the pinnacle of Dawnguard martial coordination, with tremendous skill at coordinating myrmidons alongside their subordinate soldiers. Dawnguard Scyir comes in a blister. A player may field two Dawnguard Scyirs for each warcaster in his Retribution army.

If you don't like Dawnguard or the Retribution of Scyrah aesthetic (impossible swords
and armor that's bulky in the wrong places) then you won't like this solo. Looks like
they are Jack Marshals at least.

Geez, I find out in two weeks. I know this is fanboyish of me, but I want to know
what they can do!

I guess that's my problem. It's not just the model that I look at. The fluff written by
Doug Seacat and the game rules in addition to the art of the game is what makes
me excited about new releases. It's one of the reasons why I dove in and became a
Press Ganger recently.

It's also why I've been busy and not posting as frequently. Shh, don't tell yak.

Oh dear god - I thought one of the range posted the other day had potential but this is just just .... staggeringly aweful. Just aweful. How the heck did this get past the initial sculpt and not rejected instead of being developed into a model. And then cast. And then sold. Didn't anyone at PP have the nerve to say "dude, its crap".

I know I particularly dislike PP models but this is got to be close to being the worst model PP has released.

The paint job does it no justice either. I think technically the painting is good but the scheme just doesn't work.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

It's not as bad as some of the other Retribution things being released. I don't mind this one.

I hate the whole RoS look. Too ridiculous (and I like Khador MoWs and most of the 'jack designs!). Even the Paladin butterknife sword didn't bother me too much. But theses just look like ridiculous fat guys with bludgeon swords.

I was almost getting used to the ears. It reminds me of the paintings that some artist does of Faires (Froude?? or something like that). As far as compliments go "not as bad ..." is good.

Imagine the scene, my wife asks if the dress looks good on her and I reply "not as bad as that fat women over there". The number of points I would lose would be uncountable and I think my testicles would end up on the mantlepiece next to where she keeps my dignity and self respect.

Honestly, it looks alright except for the halfcape and the weird shoulder guard. The sword is easily fixed. This would actually make some nifty wraithguard with head/weapon swaps.

Exactly my point above.

A lot of the Retribution stuff (i.e. their Jacks) is utter crap.

This is passable.

Hmm, I like it a lot. The Retribution stuff is growing on me. If I saw them with a different color scheme, I'd be tempted.

All this nerd rage regarding the new Retribution minis reminds me when the Tau were first released. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, with comments like "It doesn't fit the grimdark theme of 40K" and "oh noez!! anime 40K for the ADD crowd!!" Years later, you say you play Tau and no one bats an eyelaash; just another 40K army on the tabletop. This will be the fate of the Retribution stuff. It will appeal to enough people that within a couple years, everyone will forget why it didn't/shoulnd't/couldn't belong in the first place.

Personally, RoS is not my cup of tea, but I don't think the scuplting is any more or less ridiculous or out of proportion than previous offerings from PP.

I'll go with the "Better than the previous RoS sculpts."

This guy can at least turn his head. He can't see anything when he does, but at least it will turn.

Chopping the scale of the armor down by about 30% would make this a great design.

Pfft, sure...

Alright, so most people from what I can tell just don't give a gak, but I still see a fair share of Tau hate going around. I dunno, I guess I should just be glad I didn't get into 40k any earlier.

Indeed, I don't know why so many people are throwing such a fit over them, all the Warmachine models look ridiculous in my opinion. They all have big, over-the-top weapons, all the jacks look cartoony and stupid, and steampunk I was just never a big fan of. I think it's mostly because they're elves, if they didn't have pointy ears and painted their armor red or blue...and maybe got rid of the cod pieces, people would gush over them. So yeah, my vote goes to good old-fashioned elf prejudice.

Although for those who simply don't like the style I can kind of see where you're coming from. It does seem like they're making the Retribution just a little too over-the-top, with the anime hairstyles and strange outfits, the gunblades and buster swords, the sci-fi-looking guns and power fists, and basically just the whole elvish superior fightan magic thing going on.

Because they have huge penises and they need to be guarded.

It looks like he's got his penis hanging out and fashioned a special armoured sheath for it.

This is the most awkward-looking model I've seen since the physics-defying Vulkan He'stan.

Oh, and his legs look really odd. It looks like they've warped and he's falling over.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Gah, what is up with the cod pieces anyway, I just can't fathom why anyone would think sculpting them to look like that is a good idea.

maybe the guy scuplting them is a former adult star, and has painful memories of times when he could have used armor like that........who knows
