Subject: Warhammer/40K-Boxing?

Sunday Morning ran a "news of the weird" spot on about Chess-Boxing several weeks ago which got me thinking. If you've never heard of Chess-Boxing, it's a little practiced sport wherein the participants alternate three minute rounds of boxing with three minute rounds of chess until either checkmate or KO.
Now my thought is: what better way to get a little exercise and enjoy a game of 40K at the same time? I'd prefer MMA to boxing, but either way it would bring new meaning to the terms Fast Attack and Heavy Support...

I don't think I'd want two testosterone addled boxers swinging their fists near my miniatures.
Gonna have to vote no on this one.

Wenches? Yeah, bring as many as you like!
Oh wait, you said WRENCHES...
@Brother SRM: you'd be one of the testosterone-addled boxers! One round at the table, one round in the ring. I think it'd do a lot of good for those less active gamers - and I include myself in that appraisal!

Hmmm, not sure the average chub-chub gamer needs to sweat even more.
Most of those guys Im hesitant to stand across a table from, let alone even consider letting them try to lay hands on me.

Weight classes, male/female leagues, yadda yadda...
Personal opinion: the average chub-chub gamer needs to sweat more so that they sweat less. Also, I wouldn't want their hands on me either. Not unless it's in an arm lock. With my knee in their [insert squishy part]...

Replace "boxing" with "sword sparring" and I'm all over it.
No armor, either.

A neat idea, but I think beating the average gamer into a pulp would get boring, not to mention that repeated blows to the head would undermine their ability to command their army to the point that the game would be less than satisfying as well.
Seems like you'd have to match up players based largely on their in-ring abilities....
Oh, and another vote for MMA over boxing.

Replace 'boxing' with 'hold my opponent down while I hit him with a crowbar', and I'm in.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Yeah, that sounds much more civilised. But I wouldn't mind boxing if it was against the average "chub chub gamer" as Mistress put it.
If the incredible hulk stepped into the ring... then... maybe not.

I'm ALL for it, as long as it is MMA style and I get to play/pummel TFG first! Oh yeah, the little woman said she wouldn't mind going up against Mistress of Minis. We could probably sell tickets to that! LOL!!

I wouldn't mind sword sparring (light or heavy arms - I fight with either) for the fighting rounds.

its one of those ideas that Id love to see done, but would be reluctant to try myself, although, as Mattlov said, duelling sounds more up my street.
