We had Taco bell here for a few years
(a bit after Demolition Man came out, actually).
We laughed at the bit where all restaurants were taco bell (having won the franchise wars), as we didn't have any of them here at the time.
Our timeline diverged from theirs, obviously.
When the dvd came out, Pizza Hut had replaced any mention of TB. Taco Bell here was also no-more. Suddenly, the movie wasn't pure SF fantasy.
We never got the ad campaigns with a dog, though.
After seeing that the mascot was some rat-creature, I'm no longer surprised that they lost the franchise war.

You should have seen the Quiznos mascot, I think they filmed some road kill critter and had it sing in an old Cheech(from Cheech and Chong) accent. It's big closing line was "They got a ' fill the blank' bar!"

Gone are the days we could happily watch your commercials in our freely traded tapes of shows (some of us have seen MST3K purely because of this).
In these days of downloads and divx, our American friends delight in removing the ads from the datastream. I miss some of them - they were quite funny.
The Miller beer ads are classic.
