I am trying to assemble my first metal figure and none of the glue that I use seems to be setting. I have tried the following at they are all horrible:
-Loctite Superglue
-Gorilla Superglue
-Zap-a-Gap CA+

What should I be using? Nothing seems to set. I did try these glues out of the box, and after giving the figures a good rinse to wash off casting residue- no luck either way. Did I use the wrong Zap-a-Gap? Is there something else that folks here swear by?

Any help would be appreciated.

Every super glue I've used so far has worked, the problem is that with metal or puter you have to pin the pieces together or just hold them together with your hands until the glue is dry when I assembled the crystal for my girlfriends fire prism it took LITTERLY all night to dry, that’s all I know hope it helps.

Well, GW superglue actually works pretty well. You might want to pin your models:

Here's a tutorial if you don't know how: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/239928.page

Pinning is by far one of the best methods to keep models together.

As mentioned before, let it dry for a LOONNNNGGG time.

Cheers,

Jack.

This is insanity at it's finest.

I use Loctite super attak, the bottle is triangular shaped. Works well and dosent take to long to dry, ~30sec-1min to dry depending on the amount of glu used.
But pinning is always a + when working with metal because the pieces will easily brake of as the parts dossent get "welded" together with plastics

Make sure the pieces have a good flat fit.
or
Pin it.
or
Maybe you're putting too much glue on the piece. Things will just slide around and never dry if this is the case

I've used Alteco super glue SW25 for years. The only time it doesn't adhere is when it gets old.

Try not using TOO much glue.

Superglues don't require a squoodge-load of glue on the contact faces. Too much just slows down the bonding process, and will result in a weak bond anyway.

My superglue of choice is Zap-a-gap medium. Works fine.
2nd choice is loctite (4-something something - haven't got any in a while as my local hardware now stocks zap).

I use BSi super glue http://www.bsi-inc.com/Pages/hobby/ca.html the stuff I use is the Insta-cure+ it is really good glue. Dries fast and the bond is really strong. If you combine it with insta-set http://www.bsi-inc.com/Pages/hobby/accel.html it really will cure in seconds. The only problem is you cant buy it from them directly you need to find a dealer.
