Out of boredom I went ahead and knocked out a banner for my Salamanders. I just went off of the banner in the codex. I left the company number off of it to keep it generic. This is my first attempt at freehanding a banner with any major detail. Any tips on how to make it better would be appreciated. A super fine detail brush would probably help more than anything. Anyway...

If that's your first attempt at freehanding then it's really good
As far as improvements go, I would try to solidify the yellow border, at the moment you can see the basecoat.

Very good for a first time try at freehanding, you could try putting a thin white border around the yellow and doing some more obvious highlighting and shading on the picture.

The border is what I'm really unhappy with. I'm thinking about just making it a square border and getting rid of the little scribbly things in the corners. They look like crap. Then, of course, I have to make the border line look more solid. I went over it 4 times with different consistencies of paint to try to get it to look right and I just couldn't get it to work.

I touched up the banner and finished painting the rest of the model. It looks a little better now but it's not as amazing as I'd like it to be...

Hey now, don't sell yourself short. I think it looks very good!

The yellow border looks much better but I think it could look very good with a filled interior of black. Basically the same way you did the handles of the hammers but within the entire yellow section. It would definitely help it pop out a little better by contrast. To be honest, I don't think it really needs it, but if you're looking to add a certain something, and you don't know what it is, that might help.

Keep up the good work!
