I made a couple of these out of spare bits a while ago to see if sentry guns were any good. What do you think? Considering I threw them together in about 10 minutes

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint

Cool.

Nice idea, great alternative to shelling out money for Forgeworld stuff (Unless you have the money for it, to which I salute you)

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I love the idea of sentry guns, and I have a couple from FW that have never seen tabletop use. Your scratchbuild looks pretty damn good and a far cry cheaper, TBH! I'm curious, though: why is there flock on top of the gun?

It's camoflauge! TBH they were meant to look like pop-up guns at first but I thought the gun barrels were too long for that.

Ah, gotcha. I actually thought it might be a pop-up gun after I posted and looked at it again , but the dimensions didn't quite fit the base . Cool nonetheless!

Looks very cool. I own a couple of FW Tarantulas but if I would have thought of this I would have just done this. Very simple and effective. My suggestion would be to use a 60mm base. It would be more inline with the Tarantula's footprint and would be large enough to go with the idea of a pop-up sentry which is a really cool idea. I'll have to do a couple of these to beef up my gun-line for Apoc games.

Or even a chariot base? A full 'pop up' sentry gun would be cool - a great objective/marker even if it has no game effect. Something similar for Planetstrike games?

Ah that's neat! I've been thinking of what I could do instead of shelling out money for tarantulas for my Renegade list. I'm gonna steal some inspirations from this

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros
