Bought a film called 'The Children' today on DVD. It's a Horror, and I like Horror films a lot.

But it's also a GOOD horror film (with an extremely attractive female read in the form of Hannah Tointon).

I am now more terrified of having children than before. Seriously creepy, atmospheric, and terrifying in places. And it's not even finished yet.

MDG is terrified of having children. He should be. They are terrifying. Then they take the money out of your wallet and spend it. Then they aeat all your food. Then they demand more food and money.

Children, pint sized versions of the federal government?

MDG could this be why people on bicycles steer clear of you (other thread?)

Forever alone

I haven't heard of it before either. I browsed Video City and Blockbuster for it, but I couldn't find it, and it isn't scheduled for screening on the satellite TV movie channels or even HD On Demand. I'm going to have to order it online, it seems.

Assuming I can find it at all.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

It's a fairly low budget British Film, but totally greater than the sum of it's parts.

The gore is done very well, and is actually pretty convincing for the most part. Acting is superb, especially the kids, and the whole shebang really comes together.

And whilst we're at it, also track down 'Children of Men' with Clive Owen and Juliette SomethingorotherwhosenameIcannotremember. Fantastic film!

I've got to agree with you, MDG, The Children is an excellent film.

The storyline, execution and "feel" certainly deliver far beyond it's budget and, as you say, it's very well acted without overplaying anything.

Only after watching did I realise that, as a father of FIVE snotlings, my days could well be numbered !

I think the best sum up is a curious mix of a film which borrows from Village of the Damned and The Birds.

And even then, I do it something of a disservice, as to my knowledge the plot itself is pretty original, and the delivery is beyond a mere homage!
