Probably a nice and easy clarification here...
In the Chaos codex it says a model equipped with wings (lets say a lord) can "move like jumppack infantry". In the same wargear section, under jumpacks, it states that it makes a unit "jumppack infantry". So, me and my friends have been reading this as its a normal infantry unit, but it can move as if it were a jumppack infantry.
Now in the rules for jumppack infantry movement, it says that if jumppack infantry being or end their move in difficult terrain, they have to make a dificult terrain test and if they fail they cop wound/s. So my question for Dakka is, does my lord with wings cop a wound for failing the test, because of how jumppack infantry move in difficult terrain? or, because hes not jumppack infantry and just moves like them, he doesn't need to take the test?

Our ruling on it was because the difficult terrain rule is in the rules for jumppack infantry movement, he can take a wound from the test. Any further clarification, or have we got the right idea here?

-edit- also, my friend just mentioned that DP's are monsterous creatures which have "move through cover". Does a DP with wings have a benefit from move through cover?

I think it would be fair to reason that if something is 'jumppack infantry' then it would obey all the rules for exactly that. Or is there something else I'm missing?

Thats the question :p the wargear entry for wings states it can move like jumppack infantry. the wargear entry for jumppacks say it makes a unit "jumppack infantry"... so logically, a infantry unit with wings is still a infantry unit, but can move like jumppack infantry. So does he need to make a dangerous terrain check when moving out of difficult terrain, and cop a wound if he fails?

I do take the tests. Honestly, youre talking about our HQs which have multiple wounds and a 5+ save. Its a 1 in 10 chance its going to happen. Its not that big of a deal.

This was brought up before when people were talking about Beast units moving through ruins (theyre not listed). I believe if you "move like" you get all the benefits/disadvantages from them. Some people say otherwise. I disagree. Ill continue taking tests.

- The BRB has a section entitled 'jump infantry', p52.

- Under this is a sub-section entitled 'movement', p52.

- If the wings mean that a unit 'moves like jump infantry' then we must assume that they are subject to ALL rules in the 'movement' section, p52.

- The rules for taking a wound when entering difficult terrain are part of this 'movement' section, therefore they are part of the movement rules for jump infantry.

So, in response, Yes, your DP has to take dangerous terrain tests like any other jump infantry. This is the same reason why he is allowed to Deep Strike, and may land on impassable terrain. All of these are part of the movement rules for jump infantry.

Can the lord be transported in a rhino then? My opponent has wondered this many times.

Yes, it can enter a transport. Winged (from the Codex: Chaos Space Marines, it should be noted) does not make a model Jump Infantry.

Absolutely perfect. Thats the conclusion we came to, just making sure we had it down pat. Cheers for this ArbitorIan!
