Ok so I went nuts and bought a whole load of Bastions and a couple of Aquila Shrines. I wanted to do a massive 40K castle basically and thought I'd start with one with 4 towers with a central one using the actual Aquila plates (4 of them) in the middle and somehow join the 5 with 2nd level bridges. In my gallery are some WIP pics that I took very quickly to give you an idea.

To be honest I'm having second thoughts on the L shaped towers. My original idea was to do a 5x5 base and have the 4 tower castle in the middle surrounding the Aquila 'keep' in a flush manner with a 1 storey bastion on each corner and some form of grand entrance on one side. This would all be set on a suitably large piece of MDF with some foam trenches, Aegis sections, dragon's teeth and barbed wire etc to complete it. Don't know where to fit a landing pad!

Ideas?

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

Have you thought about incorporating the landing pad between two or more towers, above ground level?

I like the concept, too bad about that massive gap there.

That's great! However, I would try to cover that gap up somehow.

If you can somehow make an industrial "palace" that would be amazing.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Jack.

This is insanity at it's finest.

I think he needs the other post to fill in the gap(did it come with spares?) It reminds me of the the building owned my Lenardo Lenardo in the Clerks cartoon

Oh that piece isn't even glued on yet! It's just stuck there to see how it goes. I'm still debating on what to do with the ramparts on top of the piece, like an overhang above the window so I can fit a Basilisk on top.

Visually I like it. Boring old sensible logic would suggest that having a big glass window on one side of an armoured building isn't too smart militarily, but hey, maybe the imperium makes really tough glass! You could of course put plasticard inside the 'window', making that wall represent a fancy sculptured solid wall rather than a window?

Probably made from the same material used to make stained glass windows on Imperial titans and spaceships don't you think?

Besides such weaknessess are less important when you can have the whole thing protected by a void shield...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes I plan on putting a bunker door at the bottom with stairs if I stuck with the L shape config. I'm toying with some other ideas which means I'll most likely have to tear these apart a little, but the general concept of Bastion/Aquila fusion will be kept.

Stay tuned after the weekend!

That's great! I didn't even notice the Aquila side wall was the same width as the bastion... idea stolen.

HAHA Enjoy TrooperPX!

You have to dremel out a bout 4-5mm on the right hand side to make it slot into the bastion though. Just a heads up, but the stock item is very close!
