So this guy's hand is clearly taken up by the standard; but can he still use a two-handed weapon?

I was thinking about giving him a storm bolter or a flamer... not sure; any clarifications?

Does it say you cannot use a two handed weapon?

If it doesnt you still can.

The banners do not allways have to be held, you will find alot of them are mounted onto backpacks or on termie armour.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

Can't see any reason why not in the codex.

I don't believe those banners impart the bonus do they?

This is a STANDARD we're talking about after all.

But I could be wrong; if I am I am a bit fizzled because all my sergeants have those banners...

The codex just says "may be given a banner" - I can't see anywhere that he has to actually hold it, weirdly enough. Maybe they use them as bandannas?

It seems to me, he can carry the bolter one handed just fine, and just plant the flag in the ground before he fires.

Several of the wargear entries for Space Marines list more than two hands' worth of gear. I always assumed that thats
what the holstered pistol/sheathed sword bits were for.

They just mount all their weapons to the standard pole!

But do the standard bearer and apothecary still get +1 attack for two close combat weapons? As said the standard can be stuck in the ground, and the Narthecium is modelled with his palm and fingers free suggesting he can still hold a pistol/chainsword in that hand.

In a world gone mad, who is left to fight for truth, justice and all that gets you smashed for under a fiver....

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint

The Narthecium doesn't take up a hand either.
