Hi,

I need help with this list! Last game I tried deep-striking a lone commander in, and it worked OK. That's what I was planning to do with this one. As far as models, I have more fire warriors, 2 more crisis suits, 3 more stealth suits, and I believe some more drones.

Here's the list so far:

HQ:
Commander Shas'el, TL Fusion Blaster, Flamer 72
Commander Shas'el, TL Fusion Blaster, Flamer 72

Troops:
6 Firewarriors
Devilfish, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod 165

17 Kroot, 2 Hounds 131

Elite:
3 Crisis Suits, TL Missile Pods and Flamers, 2 Shield Drones 176
3 Crisis Suits, TL Missile Pods and Flamers, 2 Shield Drones 176
3 Stealth Suits 90

Fast:
3 Pirahnas, Fusion Blasters, Disruption Pods, Targetting Arrays 225

Heavy:
Hammerhead, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod, Target Lock 170
2 Broadsides, A.S.S., 2 Shield Drones 195
2 Broadsides, A.S.S., 2 Shield Drones 195

Total: 1997

Thanks for any feedback

Edit: I left off a unit!

Couple of things. I like to put flechettes on my pirahna's since they are usually in close and tend to get assaulted. I'll also usually put gun drones on my stealth suits for cheap wounds and shots. Usually one drone per suit. The other thing...no pathfinders? Not sure how well this will work without pathfinders and marker lights.

I forgot to mention that- I do have a squad of 8 pathfinders available. But I was afraid that if they were the only foot-mounted troop unit (other than kroot) they'd be shot to pieces?

I also have the skyray turret if it'd be better than a hammerhead. I never have put many markerlights in my lists, and maybe that's why they've been ineffective? I also didn't think I should put them in the firewarrior squads, since they'll mostly be hiding in the devilfish...

Great point about the flechettes and gun drones! I will check to make sure I have enough drones at the moment, and if so I'll make that adjustment. I'll definitely add the flechettes in!

Here's an edit to try to fit in pathfinders. I had to drop the stealth suits and a kroot, and the fire warrior squad without a devilfish will try to ride in the pathfinders' one. Does this help? I still need to fit in flechettes.

your crisis suits need multi-trackers or they can't shoot both the weapons you have given them. The hammerhead also needs a multi-tracker so it can fire like a fast vehicle. The broadsides are out of place in a mechanized list like this one. You have plenty of anti-tank in the crisis HQ's and the piranha and the HH. I would recommend adding a retinue to one of the crisis commanders and giving someone a PosRel to aid in your deepstrike. Perhaps deepstrike this unit
Shas'el--120
TL FB, MP, HWMT, HWDC, HWTL, BK, 1 Shield Drone, 1 Gun Drone
Shas'vre--94
TL PR, Flamer, HWMT, HWDC, 2 Gun Drones
Shas'vre--104
TL PR, Flamer, HWMT, HWDC, 2 Shield Drones
300
Hard as nails and with luck you can kill a whole squad of marines in one turn or 2 tanks

Expensive but at 2000 pts you can afford it.

ionheads get a lot of bad press but are really cheap at like 130 pts and can be nice vs MEQs or jetbikes

Maybe the 342 pts maxxed out kroot squad of doom

I disagree with Razorhead on one point. I like the broadsides in this list. You can use your kroot to help protect them.

You should definatly get multi-trackers on all your crisis suits. If you are playing somebody with terminators and you choose to use your fusion guns on them you'll benefit from the extra hits the flamers will put on them.

You should also put team leader and hard wired target lock on your broadside teams so you can split their fire if need be.

To get those points you may consider dropping one devilfish and using the extra points to add to your firewarrior squad on foot or throw in some extra kroot hounds.

Thanks for the tips! One question- I keep getting the advice to add multitrackers, so I know it must be right. But for the "deathrains" (twin-linked missile pod) crisis suits, I just put the flamers on there as a back-up. I can't think of a time they'd really need to fire both the flamer and the missile pods?

Also, I believe the items you sent may arrive tomorrow augustus5, in which case I'll be able to use them for the tournament and will be fielding a list similar to this after all!

While august and i have differing opinions on the broadsides, that is up to you. Adding the broadsides makes this more of a hybrid list and you will have to play differently rather than an all mech list. To me having to hold a position with a mechanized army is like having one foot nailed to the floor in a barfight. You payed the significant price to go full mech and then you give up a lot of the mobility to field one unit. (a really good one but one nonetheless).

Anyway with regards to the deathrains if you really want the back up weapons do this
give the 2 regular suits just a TL MP and then give the team leader a TL Flamer and a MP along with a HWMT. The ability of the TL flamer to re-roll wounds makes up for the rest of the squad not having one. Plus its a pretty even point swap.

Good points! I haven't played enough to know if it will hold me back having them... from the games I have played, they've killed enough things to make me gun-shy of leaving home without them!

I just received another shipment of kroot in... would it be worth adding in another squad? I could juggle points around, and maybe drop one of the lone deep-striking commanders. What do you think?

Any other feedback? It's now or never, the tournament's tomorrow

Thanks!

Okay, here's what I used!

HQ:
Commander Shas'el, TL Fusion Blaster, Flamer 72

Troops:
6 Firewarriors
Devilfish, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod 165

6 Firewarriors 60

6 Firewarriors 60

14 Kroot, 2 Hounds 110

Elite:
3 Crisis Suits, Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multitrackers, 2 Shield Drones 221
3 Crisis Suits, Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multitrackers, 2 Shield Drones 221

Fast:
3 Pirahnas, Fusion Blasters, Disruption Pods, Targetting Arrays 225
4 Pathfinders
Devilfish, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod 153
4 Pathfinders
Devilfish, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod 153

Heavy:
Hammerhead, Smart Missile System, Disruption Pod, Target Lock 170
2 Broadsides, A.S.S., 2 Shield Drones 195
2 Broadsides, A.S.S., 2 Shield Drones 195

Total: 1996

I had to make some last minute adjustment because I missed FedEx, and so I didn't have the bits I was planning to use to convert my crisis suits. Am I ever glad that I didn't do that!!! The "fireknife" configuration with plasma rifle and missile pod cleaned house. The plasma rifles were really, really effective... I also usually used a marker light hit for these squads to be hitting a 3+.

The pirahnas did really well, but I will Definitely find the points for them (and maybe the devilfish, too) to have flechettes next time.

I posted up the deployment tactic I used with the army here:

No thoughts? After the last list I posted where I was convinced NOT to take the plasma rifles, I thought people would be interested that they performed really well . Also the two squads of 4 pathfinders shined... I don't know if my opponents just didn't think to target them, but because they were so small they were largely ignored... and they rocked!
