Hey all,
I am working on a Sons of Medusa army (1000 points) and have 5 power weapons to paint. I am trying to find a good tutorial or reference photo to work from. Anyone got any good suggestions of examples of power weapons?
--Many Thanks

Check out this article I wrote a while back for some ideas to get you started.
As for color, you're most likely using a red color somewhere else on the model, and I find that using your accent colors works out nicely when painting power weapons.

I generally paint power weapon blades with a light blue color, then wash it with a super-thinned gold metallic paint, which gives it a sortof glowing, sparkly appearance.
I can't recall what the Sons of Medusa use as their color scheme, but sky blue is a nice contrast color for pretty much everything.

Bear in mind that I'm a very casual player, and any advice I give will reflect that tendency.

For power weapons I do a gradual blend starting from the darkest at the hilt and progressing to almost white at the tip of the blade, it takes along time but is worth it in the end
