Subject: 2 Orc Choppas = +2 strength?

Was just talking on the phone with a friend and it came up. Neither of us have a side so theres no disagreement. We just want to know if for each choppa you have, do you get +1 str, or can you only get a total of +1?
With black orcs armed to da teef rule it says: At the start of each combat, a unit of black orcs can choose to fight with either a single choppa (incase they have shield), two choppas, or a great weapon.
Choppas give +1 strength first turn of combat so does having 2 give you +2 strength or am I crazy (even if I am, I play orcs so its ok )
Im not sure if Im missing something and I didnt read another rule somewhere but as far as I know, its unclear. Let me know

I might be wrong on this but not only do you not get 2 str from 2 choppa , i think you lose the +1 str as soon as you dual wield...
(would the rule be in rule book or army book?)

The dual choppas is for an extra attack. I'm not sure if you lose the +1 strength bonus but I know you wont get +2 with them.

You get +1 Strength for having a choppa. You can have more than 1, but you still only get the benefit once.

How Choppas work:
Single Choppa w/ no other weapon: +1 Strength first round of every combat.
Single Choppa w/ Shield: See above, you gain +1 to your save for shooting and an additional +1 to your save when fighting to the front in close-combat. This armor save bonus applies to every turn.
Pair of Choppas: +1 Strength the first round of combat, and +1 attack for every round of combat.
You do not get the strength bonus for each Choppa you carry. If each weapon's effects were assumed to be cumulative by default, Snikch would be a beast at S7 base causing 3d3 wounds with every hit (Basically, he'd chew through multi-wound models and units like a hot knife through butter).

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |

Alright, thanks for the feedback, it really helped. Good to know my black orcs arent extremely over powered for their points.

It's actually not two choppas. You start with a choppa, then you purchase an "additional hand weapon"....

Deathmaster Snitch is the skaven special character assassin. His model is the best hint towards his rules, he is armed with a weeping blade in each hand, and one in his tail. His rules give him +2 attacks for 2 addl HW's, but he of course only gains the weeping blade special rules 1x, otherwise he would be a monster to anything in the game with a ridicolous str value, and the ability to do multiple wounds.
