While sitting at home looking at my bits box the idea hit me this morning... why not do a Fallout 3 themed IG army? Then as always lady reality kicked m in the teeth as I realised there would not be a good reason to have any tanks in a post apocalyptic 60s style American theme. So till I can come up with something to get past that hurdle here is what I have been kicking around.

The Lone Wanderer - HQ
Dogmeat - HQ

Raiders - Troops
Talon Company - Troops
Regulators - Troops
ECT... for other factions. Each faction would be a squad.

Super Mutants would count as Ogrins

Liberty Prime could count as a tank of some type.

And then I am kicked in the teeth about a lore fluffy army.

Suggestions, thoughts???

The end is never really the end, its the start of something new.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

Most of those factions would never fight on the same side (Regulators and Talon Company/Raiders especially)

The Brotherhood of Steel would be tough to convert but could fulfill and army by itself in theory.

For fluff, try The Vault (a fallout wiki)

For a wasteland 'bad guys' army united under some kind of prophet:

HQ
Prophet (Evil vault dweller/lone wanderer)
Companions

Elite
Talon Company
Mysterious Stranger

Troops
Raiders

FA
Mutant animals (Dogs/Molerats/Radscorpions)

HS
Super Mutants
Deathclaws

For a 'good' army:

HQ
Good vault dweller/lone wanderer
Companions

Elite
Brotherhood of Steel
Mysterious Stranger

Troops
Wastelanders
Mercs

FA
Robots of various types perhaps - a bit of a stretch though

HS
Brotherhood armed with Fat Men

Gathering the Informations.

Personally...
I'd say use the Enclave as your theme.
It lends itself to a military organization(obviously), it's easy to come up with where/when to have special weapons, Ogryns could be converted as Deathclaws, etc.

personally i'd do the brotherhood of steel as SM, and use liberty prime as dreadnoughts.

however again I would make up my own rules

Ogryns in a "good" army = Sentry Bots?

Also Three Dog has to be a Master of the Ordinance or something

I have personally been toying for the longest of times with the idea of using the BoS as a general theme for a Marine army, complete with junk tank and whatnot.

Kind of thinking of borrowing an idea I saw not too long ago when someone did a Fremen army... Using a model kit I got of a car that can be converted into one of the many cars in the game having a few models riding in and around it I can make a "tank" use a Fatman as the main cannon and guys holding various weapons as the side weapons...

Yes I am aware there are tanks still around as you see in Anchorage but do remember that is a simulation of what happened 200 years ago and ingame you never see any tanks either active or destroyed.

The end is never really the end, its the start of something new.

If I were gonna do a Fallout army, this is how I'd approach it...
I'm thinking an IG and/or Daemonhunters and make it sort of an alliance between Brotherhood of Steel and NCR.

Guardsmen vets (or stormtroopers) would be NCR ...probably able to use normal cadians with a NCR paint scheme.

The vault dweller could use Marbo's rules. Then decide how you want him to look. I think there is a Zombie torso and legs that could be swapped in with IG bits to make a jumpsuit wearing vault dweller...or a Necromunda model...or one of the newer IG plastics?

BOS would obviously be Space Marines

Ogryns - Supermutants (like the good ones in FO2)

Penal legion or White Shields - Ghouls from the powerplant (zombie models would work great)

The HQ could be taken from any number of characters from the Fall Out series.

Valks could be converted to the Vertibird things in FO2.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and remember to use old car models from the 50s for vehicles to stay with the FO style. Mercurys and Buicks would be good

I love this idea and cant wait to see some work.

A converted (slightly) Marbo would make a nice vault dweller i think

Snipers would be easy... it would be awesome if you made some snipers to have that Druid hood like that guy in the churchtower that has the Reservist's Rifle and wears that dorky druid stuff...

Alternatively, you could do a Pitt/Paradise Falls based theme: raiders as troops and slaves as conscripts/penal legions. Slaves would be so perfect for penal legions IMO. You could have Eulogy Jones as an HQ and use the stats from a commissar, and have a good excuse to have a guy dressed as a pimp! His female slaves could be his bodyguards. Have raiders in Metal Armor for carapace-veterans.

I like the idea of using raiders as traitor-guard type army. It could look really unique, and I am sure there are plenty of miniatures in some of the sci-fi punk ranges to fit the bill.

You could count the Mysterious Stranger as an assassin, appearing out of nowhere, if you know what I mean. He should be easy to make as well: take a guardsman, give him a trenchcoat and a shady hat and a .44 Magnum.
