The rules are simple; join in by painting and posting a picture of a model a week from a Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, or other gaming system army. Start whenever you like, and if you want to post an introductory post with the details of what you will be painting, that would be cool!
If you are going to join in, please make a Blog and send a link to CLThomps via PM. Also please post at least one post every week saying what you have done and what you have not. Start each of your updates with a headline saying which week in your personal 52 week order it is! (this will make it easier for me to add the photos to the main post.)
Moreover please upload all photos to Dakka's Gallery.
A link to the main Gallery blog will be added as soon as I get a response from the site admin.
If you have any questions or would like to join in please post below.

I kind of hate threads like this. Its like that 500$ card to games workshop thread. Pointlessly made by some one who's most likely bored out of there skull.
At anyrate if you were willing to start a blog about it you should have made a blog. No one likes reading fairly pointless threads unless there is something there to catch the eye or like you they are bored and just wasting time.
AT anyrate to answer your question id be intrested in doing the one model a week thing. My force would be wood elves as I have a fiar bit of there models sitting around.

I was thinking about a long term project using the Death Korps Forgeworld Models. That way I could get them without missing rent . This list has 66 models so it would not perfectly meet you criteria, but it is 1000pts.
Mostly chosen to look good, not win tourneys
We should get a group of people together to start thread with our army lists and post a model each week. If you can get a total of four to six people it would be really fun.
We should all pick different armies and to make it interesting. I call IG
Count me in, lets start recruiting some others

1. If you hate threads like this don't bother posting on them, it just bumps them so that they get more views.
2. Making assumptions about someones modivatations is rude, please don't do it on my thread.
3. I did not make it a blog because I was posing a question as to who would be willing to join me, and also to fish out some ideas for my project. Therefor it is not appropriate to create a blog at this time.
4. If you can't be bothered to read four lines of text without pictures you should head over to 4chan and stay there.
5. Wow why didn't you just post this line? It answers the question posed and keeps the thread on topic, simply amazing!
If you are serious about joining with your wood elves that would be great. It is always nice to see WHFB get some attention.

Thats a great Idea, 66 models is not to big of a problem as long as you think you can keep up All you have to do is around 5 models every 4 weeks.
We should get a group of people together to start thread with our army lists and post a model each week. If you can get a total of four to six people it would be really fun.

That was the basic idea, I am a horrible procrastinator, so deadlines really help me get work done. As per the different army idea, I don't want to exclude anyone that would be willing to join us, and there are a lot of different ways to model the same army (DKK, Prets, Armored Company, Chem Dogs, ect.).

I dont necessarily think I will be able to participate, as my own level of experience/free time doesn't guarantee I will be able to keep up. But I would very much like to see other people's work.
And a number of 52 would conveniently break down into a nice SM army of five ten man squads and 2 HQ's

Great to see some more people that are interested!
Yeah I think your right, don't exclude anyone. What would you do Cithomps?
I am struggling with a couple options the first being painting my Dark Eldar. I have been in the process of sculpting a whole line of "Evil Space Elves, of DOOM!" so I am going to kit bash that with my Dark Eldar, and it would be a good opportunity to paint them up to a professional standard, prior to selling the Evil Space Elf casts.
But Dark Eldar tend to use a high model count so the 52 model restriction is going to be a pain, and also I want to begin selling my casts before to long, so that means I should get a few models painted post haste.
My other thoughts were:
Soul Drinkers allied with Radical Daemonhunters
SoB
Genestealer Cult
Farsight Tau
Some other whim that might come up between now and when we start.
So if I can't decide I will roll a d6 and do the result.

I've been looking for an online motivation to get some stuff painted, but sadly, I have made a three month commitment to finish my Daemonhunters army before I start another. BUT, if I could join, I would do a Deathwing force: a relatively low model count army, with the chance to do some really nice conversions and character models.

I just sold a squad on the electronic-Bay. Arbite love!
I will join in with this 52 model thing - I have many armies which are incomplete, but I am selling everything which does not pertain to four of them (WFB Empire Knightly Order, 40K Blood Angels, 40K Sisters of Battle, 40K Imperial Guard). Because of the lack of WFB armies, I shall paint the WFB army. I think 52 models would just about complete it - it would certainly make a sizeable dent!
When do we start? And where is the P&M Blog? Where is is? Tell me! Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my sword!

Chlthomps-- Since the fluff is pretty clear that the worship of the Emperor takes some pretty weird forms on other worlds, I think that it would be reasonable to assume that there are SoB cloisters from those worlds as well. A SoB army with kind of a Zulu theme, or American Indian tribal theme, or old school Pictish theme might be kind of fun, and definitely look original. But that is just my thought. (Ooh, a penitent engine with that looks like one of those wicker men they used to burn people alive in! How cool would that be?)

Sisters are ALWAYS going to be bastions of orthodoxy, so they are going to be pretty standard Grimdark pseudo-Catholic. BUT, as you say, the worship of the Emperor is very different elsewhere. So, attached units would be weird and odd (or, rather, different sort of weird and odd when compared to the sisters!)

eBay is your friend, oh chap-who-throws-people-out-of-windows! You would be surprised what sort of tat people are selling on there. You can get good deals on models which look like they were de-sprued with a woodchipper and then glued in a cement mixer If you are going to be converting them, they might be good for your needs.

It was a good thought, but
Due to the overwhelming support so far, I feel that the format might be more conducive to an individual blog system with a Master thread that just posts finished pictures and links to the blog the photos came from. The Idea being that with the 10+ people all posting a couple of photos a week in a motley manor will scare off anyone interested but not actively participating in the event. Not to mention it will be a lot easier to offer CC on an individual basis without adding clutter to the main forum.
The rules you came up with sound good:
The rules are simple; join in by painting and posting a picture of a model a week from a Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, or other gaming system army. Start whenever you like, and if you want to post an introductory post with the details of what you will be painting, that would be cool!
If you are going to join in, please make at least one post a week saying what you have done and what you have not. Start each of your posts with a headline saying which week in your personal 52 week order it is!
Good luck with your painting and modelling, and let's have some fun!
But I am going to change them a bit and edit them into the top of this post.

I sent a PM to Lego asking him to help set up a main post, Hopefully he will get back to me soon.
One last thing, I think we will officially start painting a week from tomorrow. This will give us a week to prepare and get some of the harder to find models and bits. If you want to start sooner, Great you will be a week ahead of the majority. The great thing about having one master gallery post is that I can edit you in when ever you get that week done regardless of the date

You don't have the money / Bitz to do one model a week? What do you need solid gold las guns
Start with something you own, or spend all week making a guardsman out of Green Stuff. Or as Darkknight said buy some bits on ebay. I just check and you can get guard and zombie parts for under a dollar each, and you get to choose what parts you want to use for every model.
That puts your weekly output at less that $5 a week with shipping included.
