Subject: Fighty Chaos Sorcerors?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to talk about this topic, but no one has recently and I was wondering if anyone had some table experience: can you make what I would call the 'battle caddy'?
Something like:
Chaos Sorceror - chaos steed, dispel scroll, warrior familiar 146
you basically get a chaos champion w/ a 2+ save, a dispel scroll, and a free S5 hit at the beginning of every fight. a little pricey for what he does, though I've also pondered:
Chaos Sorceror - Level 2, MoN, Barded Steed, Warrior Familiar, Enchanted Shield, Bloodcurdling Roar 211
the pimped out version: adds a knight-killer shooting, an extra power die, lets you hit WS5 elite infantry on 3s, and a 0+ save. Much fightier, dangerous on ranged offensive, but way pricier and no scroll.
So basically what I'm wondering is, what're people's experiences kitting out sorcerors to do something other than the typical wizard bunkering; blasting away and hoping not to explode in CC?

I generally kit out a regular sorcerer, if he's fighting, with the bloodskull pendant. Make sure there's a champ in the unit so he doesnt have to challenge.
As for the sorcerer lord, you can kit him out just like a elf hero, maybe arune sword and E. shield or something like that.
Overall though i think its better to kit out your spell casters, for casting spells. Its what they're there for and they are quite good at it.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I was just thinking about this just now actually, although I did not consider the "Battle Caddy".
The second Sorcerer does not have a Dispel Scroll, which kind of defeats the purpose.
I would probably take Dispel Scroll, Warrior Familiar and put him in a group of Mauraders to give them a bit of extra punch.
A more interesting option I think is Battle Sorcerer Lord with magic-freak Sorcerer Heroes and a BSB.
Edit: just because Warrior Familiar is so good. Compare to say one of the cheap swords.

Just put him on a barded warhorse with 2 scrolls and you've got your battle caddy.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)

The steed is almost a no brainer for me; 16 pts for a 2+ save, a US for your blocks, and an extra S4 attack. The only place I can think of wanting a hero on foot is if they're frenzied, going in a non-frenzy infantry block. The save hardly makes him very fighty though, as he's still only 3 S4 attacks; ask my Temple Guard champion how well 3 S4 attacks have been working out for him
I think scroll+warrior familiar+biting blade+steed would do alright for 151 points. Certainly equipped to knock 99% of champions out of the park.
come to think of it, this is really more of a YMDC question, but would an item like the biting blade or the sword of might effect the warrior familiar? Since the Sorceror is still the one legally making the attack, I could see the argument that it would.... RAI could easily argue that the Sorceror is the one carrying the enchanted blade itself, but that's not necessarily the case and more of a fluff interpretation of the weapon.

Not sure on how best to make a sorcerer fighty - I just take an exalted instead - but a dude on Warseer runs a really impressive sorcerer lord:
Sorcerer Lord - MoT, bloodskull pendant, enchanted shield, collar of kr0n, spell familiar, level 4
Pretty groovy, brings the gate & the pain.

That is a sweet as sugar build. I'm nabbing it, but then again I never claimed to be original.

O_o Enchanted Shield, great idea, stacks with Chaos Armour I never considered they could take that.
