Game I played today to practice for a tourney (2500 points with 1 special character)
I will do my best to remember what happened (so there will invariably be omissions or mistakes here and there) over the next week.
Remember this is NGs... I always aim for a tie at best, and if I lose, who cares I have a blast playing them. it is so much more fun than playing a top tier army, because with a top tier army when it goes bad it is really annoying.

He then started setting up, obviously going for a central deployment, straight into the middle of my line, and hid his giant from my spear chukks which were always going to be on the hill... The skarsnik rolls had really freaked him out and completely stuffed his deployment, which at the end of the I told him was rubbish, he should have formulated a new plan (he hadn't deployed when we rolled for skarsnik) and stuck with it.
LESSON 1: Never, ever let your opponent dictate what you are aiming to do. Keep him reacting to your moves and you have the game sewn up.
I did my usual set up (from distant to close), 2 giants and 2 squig hopper units as a heavy hitting flank attack, archer unit as support, firebase on hill, mass of NG units to get the Ld bonus from general and BSB, and give lost of shots to skarsniks prodder (best bound item in the game), snotlings in front of them as diverters, spider riders in the forest, long archer unit to swing the gate on the enemy and protect the flank.

Roll off for turn 1... he wins on 2nd roll, and gives me first turn.
LESSON 2: This was a huge mistake as he had very little magic defence due to the mages being off table. And him taking 1st turn would have put me in a more defensive posture.
NG turn 1:
The furthest squig hopper unit animositied, Skarsniks unit Waaaghed! and hit the back of the snotlings.
I moved forard, keeping everything out of charge range of his units.
The snotlings marched flat out so I'd be able to redirect turn 2.
Pic at start of magic phase (and the 'whole table' view will be taken at the start of the magic phase every turn)
Magic:
Skarsnik and 1 foot of gork put 5 wounds on the dragon ogres, killing one. Passed panic
Shooting
IIRC 2 wounds on the dragon ogres.

Turn 1 WOC:
No charges.
The units that had been held up turn up.
Level 2 mage on barded horse, MOT, Book of secrets joined the 25 marauders full command, flails, MOS? and come on behind the dragon ogres.
The 5 chaos knights, MOS, ? magical standard, standard and muso joins the Level 2 mage on barded horse, MOT, Infernal puppet- Spells = Flickering fire of tzeentch, Baleful transmorgification and hide behind the hill.
From distant to close.
His marauder cav move to the far flank, and are peeking around the edge of the forest, the giant turns to face me, apparently deciding not to do anything this game.
His hounds bolt forward towards the archer unit, who promptle release 2 fanatics, killing them all, and leaving the fanatics in front of any charge by the Dragon Ogres, who have moved to the middle of the table.) The knights trot forward and the chaos warriors (with nurgle sorcereor move forward. The chariot moves forard a little and the marauder horse closest move forward.
Start of magic phase:
He gets treason of Tzeentch off against Skarsnik's unit... 30 attacks at 4+, 16 hits at 4+, 7 wounds, 5 die.
I dispel the rest of his spells.
No shooting or combat.
Turn over

The other player owns the dice.
They are US casino dice. The FLGS where I get mvt trays, flock etc also sells casino dice in numbered batches (dice numbers)

Turn 2 Night Goblins.
I decide not to Waaagh!
Animosity: The squig hoppers that advanced last turn Waaagh! and move towards the enemy giant.
The archer unit on the distant end of the board squabble.
Movement:
No charges.
The unit of squig hoppers that was held up last turn move forward about 8 inches, the other unit that just Waaaghed this turn heads for the middle of the forest (from where I plan to have a 10 inch zone of annoyance from which I can spring to next turn to threaten a multitude of enemy units.... so I roll 17 inches and run through the forest and into the (until now) totally out of the game chaos giant.
The fanatics run back towards my line.
The giants dash forward and turn to hit the chaos units as they push forward. A giant in the flank is sure to make him overrun/pursue right into my set trap.
My main line staggers itself so that when the snotlings get smashed and pursuit occurs, I can get off flank charges, or if he restrains I can run forward and fanatic spam his hammer units.
The snotlings dash forward to divert, one unit (for the knights) is away from the building, the other (obscured by the building) is turned 45 degrees towards the building so thet the chaos warriors will hit it and be stuck.
Also by turning them in different directions when he does push through his units will be heading in 2 different directions, diluting his attack.
I advance the HW unit on the close side of the house forward, readying for the chariot/ marauder cav combo charge.
The spider riders dash across into the forest.
The closest archers stay still.
Which leaves us here:
Magic:
Skarsnik's prodder and a foot of Gork get off and kill 2 knights.
Shooting:
I blast away with the spear chukkas at the dragon ogres, killing 1. The remaining DO panics, blocking the flail marauders on foot for next turn.
I also manage to get a wound on the chariot.
The archers closest to me shoot and kill 2 marauder cav. No panic test due to MOS.
Combat:
Oh dear.... the MOS giant goes first and  to jump up and down... but rolls a  on his fall over test!  My squig hoppers bit him for 3 wounds (including the fall down wound).

Turn 2 Warriors Of Chaos
Movement:
From far away to close...
The marauder cav unit behind the forest swing around the forest to threaten my flank (which is why I stuck archers on the flank, so they would be able to shoot his flankers)
LESSON 3: Protect your flanks, Bowfire works, your own flankers work, fanatics work best. (But mine were released by the hounds!)
Giant MOS is in combat
The dragon ogre rallies.
the marauders with flails stand around, blocked.
His blue knights ride over the hill to charge my giants if I stay still or if I get into combat with his unpainted knights.
His unpainted knights & BSB smash into the distant snotlings. (I love immune to psych diverters  )
The chaos warriors charge the other (hidden behind the building).
The chariot and marauder cav combo charge my archer unit, I release 2 fanatics at his chariot, killing it (just).
Which leaves us here...
And gives a great look at how the snotlings have thrown his line into confusion and set me up for multiple charges, no matter what he does.
Magic:
He gets a spell off on my distant archers killing a couple.
He then miscasts, pulls out the infernal puppet and moves an 11 to a 12 and lets me get off foot of gork, which fails to do anything...
Nothing else gets off.
No shooting
Combat...
The giant with MOS swings his club and kills 3 squig hoppers, I get a wound back. Not enough and I break and he pursues. My squig hoppers get away, well out of the forest, but the giant runs through and clips the back of one of my giants.
LESSON 4: Always check possible overrun lines, It was very close, but a few seconds more of checking in my mvt phase would have meat an extra giant running free.
The unpainted knights and BSB vs snotlings. BSB goes HW shield (I don''t know what other weapon he had) with a flourish, and fails to wound. The knights hammer me... for 1 wound.  The horses then go bananas and do a grand total of 2 wounds. L attack back but fail to wound. I fail my break (stubbon 4 with BSB rerolls) and flee through the fanatic, killing myself.
He elects to hold, I assume due to the fanatic.
The chaos warriors and mage go all rubber swords as well and manage 2 wounds on the other snotlings.  I attack back and kill a chaos warrior! FEAR MY SNOTLINGS!!!
I then fail my break test and *EDIT: end up in front of the BSB unit EDIT* and If I can rally them they will still be able to capture a table quarter as they are US6....  I told you they were great.... thay had just better not rally in front of my BSB unit...
The chaos warriors over run and stand, looking at the building.
The marauder cav hit the NGs with hand weapons (I wish they were spears) and kill 2 or 3. I attack back and kill 1. Win combat, he breaks and flees through the fanatics, I pursue and end up standing on one of the fanatics I had earlier released which kills a few more guys and is removed from play....
So it is end turn 2. I've thrown his line into dissaray, still have 6 fanatics up my sleeve and the only area I'm worried about is the giant who was just pursue charged.

Nice use of snotlings to redirect charges! I use them for the same purpose. I used to use regiments of common goblins with hand weapons but the latest O&G army book made them too expensive points-wise.

Turn 3 Night goblins:

Animosity...
The archers on the far side of the table Waaagh! and end up on top of the fanatic...  where he kills 9 before dying and the unit flees ( IIRC I was half an inch out of range of Skarsnik for Ld)
Movement:
The squig hoppers who aren't fleeing move towards his marauder cav on the far side of the forest and end up an inch or 2 short.
My 'falling down' giant hits the flank of the unpainted knights (he is only in base contact with the chaos BSB)
My fleeing squig hoppers fail to rally and race off at 90 degrees towards the nearest table edge to end up an inch or 2 from leaping off the edge of the table (the squig hoppers at the far end of the table with no mvt tray)
I decide to fanatic spam his chaos warriors and 1 reaches, killing off a few. I run the ones from Skarsniks unit accross the face of the unpainted knights towards the chaos warriors so that if I roll low (which I do) he will have to mov ethrough 2 fanatics.
One of the fanatics that had killed the chariot spins accross next to the chaos warriors (why there are 2 on the closer side of the chaos warriors in the pic below)
The snotlings fail their rally test on Skarsniks Ld 8 and flee through the BSBs unit and end up on the other side but the size matters rule means I don't worry about them panicing.
The HW NGs turn and enter the building (they are placed on the right of the pic in an area that was empty so we wouldn't forget them)
The archers wheel around, The spider riders advance to set up march blocks and flank charges later inthe game.
LESSON 5: Always think about where you want your units to be 2-3 turns ahead, especially fast cav and flyers...
Which leaves us here:
Magic:
IIRC nothing gets through
Shooting:
The bolt throwers open up on the knights, and fail to hit at all. :(
Combat:
The giant swings his club and between the to wound rolls, armour saves and ward saves does. Nothing. I roll to see if I fall over:  and stay up, and don't break.
The chaos giant MOS bites me  and gets 2 wounds back. i eadbutt him. Don't fall over and pass my break test.
Lesson 6: Giants are a fantastic tarpit unit with stubborn 10 Ld.
So now I'm left with a giant that is about to be flank charged by the blue knights and the Dragon Ogre is sure to charge the other giant (in combat with the chaos giant with MOS). The warriors of chaos have to hit the building (they can't forseeably do anything else) so that is them tied up for a couple of turns.
The game is looking more balanced now but I'm happy with the situation.

Turn 3 WOC:
MOVEMENT:
His distant marauder horse charge the squig hoppers just in front of them.
The blue knights flank charge my giant fighting the unpainted knights.
The dragon ogre charges the giant... and fails his fear test!!! Which ties up the marauders with flails for yet another turn.
His chaos warriors charge the building and the NGs in it.
He doesn't have anything else to move.
Magic:
Nothing gets off.
COMBAT:
The marauder horsemen kill 3 squig hoppers, who turn around and kill 3 back, win combat by 1, and pursue and catch the fleeing horsemen.
Lesson 7: For heaven's sake always give marauder horsemen flails...
Which leaves us here:
His MOS giant does another wound on my giant. And I eadbutt him back. Then I don't fall and pass my break test.
His charging knights and BSB kill my giant. He elects not to overrun with the blue knights (a mistake IMHO, as he currently has no targets in charge range and is going to get smashed by bolt throwers anyway).
The warriors SMASH my night gobbos.
Lesson 8: Read all the rules on buildings. Up to US10 can fight from each unit...
So 21 chaos warrior attacks later and I'm needing snake-eyes, which I fail to roll, even with the reroll. He does not pursue
The spider riders panic off the table. :( The infantry NG units hold thanks to Skarsnik and the raggedy red banner.
So he's swung it back his way quite a bit. But I'm still in the game.

Turn 4 NG
Animosity:
Skarsnik's unit Waaagh's!
The squig hoppers Waaagh towards the marauders.
Movement:
The 3 central units charge at the unpainted knights and the central unit fails its fear test.
The fleeing archers on the far side rally
The Fleeing squig hoppers leap off the board.
The fleeing snotlings fail to rally and end up just short of my table edge.
The remaining squig hoppers hit the chaos giant
The fanatics all move, one hitting the unit that had failed its fear test.
The 2 central units that passed their fear tests charge the unpainted knights, one unit in the flank.
The close archerss move forward.
Which leaves us here:
Magic:
1 knight from the blue unit is foot of Gorked
Shooting.
Nothing is killed from the bolt throwers.
The close archers get a few hits on the chaos warriors but fail to get through the armour.
Combat:
Skarsnik and Gobbla manage to kill the BSB (just)
The rest of the NGs kill a knight.
He kills a few NGs, but loses combat and flees. Skarsnik overruns into the blue knights and the other unit chases after the unpainted knights. There are no panic tests due to MOS.
The MOS giant kills one squig hopoper and they kill him in return, then overrun into the open. Dragon ogre passes panic test.
Turn 4 WOC:
Dragon ogre passes fear test and charges the giant.
Marauders charge the squig hoppers.
The unpainted knights rally.
The unit of chaos warriors cower in the building.
Leaves us here:
Magic:
He miscasts with first spell and rolls the puppet, and magic phase ends.
Combat:
The dragon ogre air swings and the giant either air swings or does 1 wound, either way the DO has a wound left and runs away, I pursue and hit the marauder unit. :')
Skarsnik kills a blue knight and there are no wounds back to me. The blue knights break and get a long way away, and I pursue.
Back at the marauders all the squigs die, and the giant kills 4 marauders.
They airswing back, I loose combat but don't falla nd pass my break test.

Turn 5 NG
Animosity:
Both archers roll a 1 and squabble. :(
Lesson 9: Animosity will always strike at an annoying time. The archers closest to camera still have 2 fanatics and the plan was to rank up and move forward so that if he left the house I could fanatic his warriors.
Movement:
I charge with Skarsnik and the BSB's units in the centre against the unpainted knights who just rallied (unfortunately Skarsnik will be out of combat) and they both pass fear and move in.
The fanatics spin around without doing anything
The 2 spear units back up 2 inches to get away from the house and its chaos warriors.
Laves us here: Note Skarsnik's unit has 2 cxaptured banners.
Magic:
Nothing of any consequence
Shooting:
4 bolt throwers at long range kill 1 blue knight.
Combat:
The giant swings with club, and kills 2 marauders. Not enough. I don't fall, and don't break.
I fail to wound the grey knights he kills 3 NGs in return. And he passes his break test.
Turn 5 WOC:
Movement:
No charges.
The blue knights rally.
The dragon ogre doesn't and runs off the table.
The Warriors and mage exit the building.
Which leaves us here:
Magic:
I shut it down.
Combat:
My 2 units in the centre fail to wound again and 3 NGs die in return. His grey knights fail to break again!
The giant swings with club again and kills 2 more marauders.
He does no wounds in return. I don't fall, and don't break.

Turn 6 NG:
ANIMOSITY:
The archers closest to the camera squabble again!!! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!. There goes the chance of throwing the 2 fanatics at him.
Movement:
The spear NGs in front of the Chaos warriors back up and reform to get as many spears at him as possible.
The distant archer unit moves forward (because I can).
Skarsnik jumps accross to get in combat with the knights (done just after the pic below)
Magic:
I manage to foot of gork a Chaos warrior.
Shooting.
4 bolts at the chaos warriors to try and knock off a rank, and I kill 3.... not enough, I was hoping for 4 or 5. The fanatics would really have made a mess of them.
Combat:
The knights kill my BSB (I should have moved him out of combat). Skarsnik kills 1 in return and they flee off the table. Skarsnik's unit and the ex BSB unit pursued a few inches.
The marauders do a wound (finally) on the giant. He doesn't like that.... finally gets a jump up and down and kills 8... They flee off the table, I pursue to capture their standard.

The Chaos warriors charge the spear NGs. I take it (why not? I might miraculously hold)
The blue knight scharge my ex BSB unit.
Magic:
With only 1 mage left for him I shut the phase down.
Combat:
The warriors slay the entire front rank bar the champ, I attack back and do nothing, and flee through the fanatic. He elects to hold, losing his chance at standard grabbing glory (thanks to the same fanatic).
The knights kill 2 NGs... and I win combat but he holds
Game over.
Which leaves us here:
I get 3 quarters and his BSB, and 3 standards.
He got my BSB.

Post game analysis.
For NGs the wall approach is fantastic. No one will come near you with anything approaching a hammer unit thanks to the threat of fanatic spam (6 in my 4 unit main battle line) and animosity is lessened as you have unit redundancy.
If you take 1 giant, then take 2. they are fantastic as a tag team, and in most games both mine will be killed or 1 survive and 1 severely injured. They are a brilliant tarpit that occasionally hammers the enemy.
ALWAYS take 2 bolt throwers per special slot, and ALWAYS give them bullies. In the current metagame with all the big gribblies and heavy cav they are just too good not to take at their pittance of a points cost... I still have 2 assembled but unpainted to do up. They are always my 1st and second choice for specials.
I've become a real fan of the archers. I stick a unit out on a flank 15-20 wide and slowly wheel my way around. As there are 2 fanatics enemy flankers stay well away, and baring animosity as happened in this game they can reform and march forward to threaten the enemy flank in the last turn or 2 of the game. I am giving serious consideration to doing a whole army of NG archers.
Cav armies suck vs horde armies, especially if a little of his combat potential can be whittled down. the only unit of his that lived up to expectations was the WOC, and all they achieved was 1 unit of spears to half, 1 unit of snotlings fled off table and fleeing spears unit... still not what they were worth with the mage as well.
DECLARE CHARGES THROUGH FANATICS! Seems dumb but they will almost always move out of the way thanks to compulsory moves being before move charges.... this is key to agressive play by the NG player.

People bag O&G armies all the time but the potential to win is there with careful selection of units so they work together and careful playing. Put the pressure on the enemy and make him react to you. Sure animosity sucks but by having multiple units its effects can be limited.
I managed 3rd place (3 way tie for 2nd) at a tourney last weekend.
1st TKs with casket
2nd WOC with Archaon (he killed 148 models in combat in 5 games)
3rd: My NGs
4th O&G mixed army with Grimgor (I beat this army)
Draw vs ghoul VC
Win vs O&G with Grimgor
Loss vs DEs
Win vs HEs
Win vs Manfred led VC
Here is the army set up for players choice...
And how to scare the pants off HEs (I still have a giant and a snotling stand out of sight behind the far building)
At the start of this battle the HE player boasted that he had gone 3 games with only 1 combat. I initiated 12 combats and even managed to get snotlings into the flank of a SM unit and break them

Love it lol! Have 4 Skull Pass Gobbo sets and a couple bolt throwers for now ( LGS split up the dwarfs and gobbos and sold em separately). Slowly building up.

Great report 'Nads, glad I came back to catch the last 4 rounds  Way to be with the NG, and with only 8 fanatics at that (not said sarcastically at all). I also see what you were saying about bolters in your modeling thread - even 4 has a hard time pulling off kills with BS4 + range most the time
