They have to come on the field inside of it if they want to outflank.

I'm not so sure about that one, it's similar to Eldar's Striking Scorpions with a purchased Wave Serpent. Outflanking you count as moving from the very edge of the board. Deploying from the Vehicle is part of the movement phase, I don't see why they couldn't walk on from the board's edge and the vehicle itself drive off in a different direction from the same origin point on that table edge.
