I am thinking of adding a named character (eg. calgar, but not him though) to my crimson fists army (this is for my 1500 point list), but which one should i get???

realistically-whoever complements you army, eg bike army-kor'sarro, melta/flamer spam-he'stan, drop army-tiguirus

Lysander
Shrike
Pedro Kantor (only if you are playing Sternguard also)
Marneus Calgar

For fluff:

Pedro Kantor
Lysander (paints up great red and blue with fist bling)

As always, I'll point out that Sicarius is a solid character that adds something to tactical heavy marines. Better lists can be built around other guys, but Sicarious can plug into any list with decent effect.

Other than that, vulkan is a favorite for all the re-rolls he provides, while pedro makes stern guard scoring units.

My Army list:

2x Tactical Squads

2x Termy Squads, SB and PF

1 CC Termy squad

1 Vanilla Dread

2x Preds, one AC and HBs and one all lascannons

Plus whatever Hero

No Sicarius.

Lysander probably fits the bill best. With no transports, you are basically standing back and shooting, stubborn may help your space marines, not run off the tabe from a combat. You have good counter charge with the CC termies and lysander to rescue them from close combat, and lysanders bolter drill can help the shooty termies.

You could paint him as an imperial fist, who is visiting his brothers with the same geneseed.

You could buy a lysander and paint him as a crimson fist. Fortunately they have the exact same chapter logo as imperial fists.

Or you could convert your own cool looking character with the same wargear.
