So, been looking into Orks, and um, seen a few really really really awesome pics of Bad Moonz (particular shade of greenskin with black, yellow, and lil bits of white, and a lot of metal, little else keeps it very high in contrast btw bright and dark, but looks hyper industrial and cool).
But.
I want trukks dat go fast.
That means 'Red Paint'.
And I don't want the brutally loud colour mix of green skin, with red trukks and yellow/black armour, just too much >_<
Stupid question, how far do you think I could get away with using 'Painted Red' rules, without using Painted red?
Also, should I then dispense with trukks and go footslogging to keep my aesthetics intact, or just drop the painted red and lose a tactical edge for my aesthetics?

So long you indicate to your opponent that your trukks have the RPJ upgrade, it should be cool. For the most part, all your trukks will have RPJ so it shouldnt be a problem to differentiate from the other trukks.
You shouldnt entirely compromise your aesthetics just to get an upgrade. Though if you're still concerned, just put a dash of red somewhere. Even splattered red blood will suffice on the front bumper

Being Bad Moonz (and therefore the richest Orks), you could say that they can afford da best engine gubbinz and model huge turbo-boosters on them.
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Now that it's a paid upgrade then I would say just model some sort of go-fasta upgrade.

Yep, find some unreasonably large jet engines and bolt them on the back. You can always tell people that the extra weight of the engine cancels out most of the additional thrust gained - hence why it's only 1"

Thank you all for helping bolster my faith in not just the hobby, but the community (and get me through an otherwise soul-grinding paper).
I've got a garage-sale bought model of Anakin's Podracer from Star Wars Ep.I, two giant jet engines on it, of the right scale (thinking, strap em to a backwards trukk frame with no engine, all jet, no slow , and got the original pilots section that can replace the front of another trukk), which should do nicely
So thanks again, if neccesary I'll make the list flexible so that if I get one of those guys ( TFG I think they'r called) I can swap points
