I'm sure I speak for more then myself when I say that I would like to know what to expect from GW on this 2500 point army prize. So I was hoping some of your previous winners would post here about your experiences so we would know what to expect.

Things like:
Do we get to build the list at 2500 points?
If not, how good was the selection they sent?
Is there anything we should avoid?
How long did it take them to contact you?
How long after they contacted you did you get your stuff?
Was Forgeworld an option?

I won the semis last year. There was a bit of confusion so my army didn't show up here for a few months. But GW was very nice about fixing the problem and the army arrived promptly after the issues were ironed out. I asked for Demons without any Slaanesh if possible. (already have a slaanesh demon army)

What I got was this:
1 Bloodthirster
1 Lord of change
3 blood crushers
1 box of flesh hounds
3 soul grinders
4 boxes of flamers
4 boxes of horrors
4 boxes of bloodletters

All in all, quite a great haul. I was more than happy. They add the points up with no wargear, so once you trick the army out, it will be a deal more than 2500. Hope this helps.

Oh, and no forgeworld, and you don't get to write the army list, but you can suggest a theme, and they will try to make an army along those lines.

Picked daemons, got GUO, Bloodthirster, 6 bloodcrushers, 6 flamers, 10 horrors, 60 bloodletters, 30 daemonettes, 10 plague bearers, 3 screamers, 2 soulgrinder

I suppose anything that's capable of being done as a low model count with plastic kits.

They did not at all actually. I submitted my army preference to the store when winning the event, the store submitted this to the GW rep. 2 months later an unmarked box full of Chaos Daemons shows up at the store. Since other people on dakka were reporting that theirs were arriving, I called the store to notify them that it might be there soon and I got the "Oh so that's probably what this box is for then. Come on down and get it"

Was Forgeworld an option?

Nada.

The best way is to pick a theme army from the results of people asking for 2500 points of X and getting Y.


Didn't someone get a army of SOB and got all exsanguinators or something?

Personally; I'd ask for a Biel Tan or Saim Hann Eldar army.
