Hey guys, I am looking for some feedback on this list that I am considering taking to some RTTs. I want to know how you think it would score if there is a comp/theme category especially. The models are painted as Crimson Fists and the idea is that they are the counter to the speed freaks.

HQ
Captain (Bike, Relic Blade)
Command Squad (Bikes, Company Standard, Company Champion, Power Fist, Lightning Claw)

Troops
8 Bikes (MM Attack Bike, 2x Plasma Guns, Power Fist)
8 Bikes (MM Attack Bike, 2x Melta Guns, Power Fist)
8 Bikes (MM Attack Bike, 2x Melta Guns, Power Fist)
5 Scouts
5 Scouts

Fast
Land Speeder Storm
Land Speeder Storm
3 Attack Bikes

Total 1750

The other idea is to drop the plasma gun bikes down to 5 with attack bike and give 3 storm shields to the command squad and combi meltas to the scout sergeants with 10 extra floating points. Which do you guys like better?

How are you outfitting the scouts and the storms?

Captain looks good. Never forget he has 'skilled rider', that is pretty handy. The Standard isn't really worth it, I think. Here are two lists I had tinkered with at 1750:

HQ:
Captain
w/ Bike, Relic Blade
[165]

Command Squad
- Company Champion
- Lightning Claw
- Lightning Claw, Storm Shield
- Power Fist, Storm Shield
- Apothecary
[305]

Troops:
(8) Bikers, (1) Attack Bike
w/ 2x Meltaguns, Power Fist, Multimelta, Combi-Melta
[320]

(8) Bikers, (1) Attack Bike
w/ 2x Meltaguns, Power Fist, Multimelta, Combi-Melta
[320]

(8) Bikers, (1) Attack Bike
w/ 2x Meltaguns, Power Fist, Multimelta, Combi-Melta
[320]

(8) Bikers, (1) Attack Bike
w/ 2x Meltaguns, Power Fist, Multimelta, Combi-Melta
[320]

The alternative is to drop the Command Squad for a trio of 2-man Attack Bikes squadrons with Multimeltas and turn the Combi-Meltas into Combi-Flamers, for flexibility.

Hope that helps some. It is easier to just put the lists up than to explain each change. This should be pretty nasty to face, I think. Play smart and pick your moves carefully and you should be good.

Okay great, thanks for the feedback guys - the scouts and storm don't have any upgrades - and they are largely there to defend against alpha strike drop pod/daemon style armies by using a scout move to create some space and to claim objectives in buildings. em-en-oh-pee - how did you split your combat squads up and how did your bikes survive after being within 6" to use the melta?

Usually, if I did choose to combat squad, I would do this:
1) Sergeant, Melta Bike, 3 Bikes
2) Melta, Attack Bike, 2 Bikes

That made sure I did not put all my anti-tank in one basket, but instead let me have two rather good anti-tank squads.

However, a lot depends on the game. Sometimes, you can concentrate enough fire with a few squads that they survive, since everything that was being shot at within 6" is dead or weak enough to assault.

Using the land speeder storm to drop 5 scouts on an objective might be worthwhile -- especially if you give them camo cloaks and they go to ground.
With sniper rifles and a hellfire heavy bolter, they might take down a few troops.
The biggest worry is that with only 5 models, even a 3+ cover save makes them very fragile.

At a cost of 100 points for those 5 scouts, combined with the 65 point multi-melta land speeder storm, I wonder at the usefulness of that squad.
Either way, let us know how it works out for you.

This is the best bike army list I have seen thus far IMHO, and is the basis for mine.
