This painting blog is intended for me to be able to show some of the things that I'm painting at any time and to hopefully gain some comments from the rest of the community. I am more interested in the painting and modeling side of the hobby than gaming, but I'm no Golden Demon winner. My hobby is about doing what I'm interested in for my own enjoyment and if I can help anyone out with a commission or two, or by helping them with ideas, then all the better! I try to aim for the 'decent table-top' standard, which I usually hit, although we all have off days.... With a bit of luck, this blog will continue with improving levels of painting, even if I am the only one posting on here to document my efforts. Please don't go expecting the level of work that is put out by some of the excellent painters on here (LBursley's superb painting blog springs immediately to mind!), but helpful criticism and positivity are always welcome.
Some of you may have seen my thread found
here, that was trying to get some commissions where I woudl paint some troop models for free. Unfortunately, to date, I have only had one taker (I'm still willing to do this if anyone else is interested), as I think my excessive "wall-o-text" put a lot of people off. Tek, however, was not put off, and sent me ten Dire Avengers to paint for him. He specified the colours, provided a photo of some minis for me to match them to and pre-assembled and sprayed them. The first set of photos below is how they arrived, and then the second set show my first painting session with them. I've only started on 5 of them at the moment and have only done some of the work on the grey areas and base-coated the weapons. No, they're not particularly impressive at this stage, but you have to start at the beginning! Please excuse the quality of the photographs, the lighting is all wrong in here and it hardly shows any of the highlighting that I did...
Anyway, enough of my blithering....
