This painting blog is intended for me to be able to show some of the things that I'm painting at any time and to hopefully gain some comments from the rest of the community. I am more interested in the painting and modeling side of the hobby than gaming, but I'm no Golden Demon winner. My hobby is about doing what I'm interested in for my own enjoyment and if I can help anyone out with a commission or two, or by helping them with ideas, then all the better! I try to aim for the 'decent table-top' standard, which I usually hit, although we all have off days.... With a bit of luck, this blog will continue with improving levels of painting, even if I am the only one posting on here to document my efforts. Please don't go expecting the level of work that is put out by some of the excellent painters on here (LBursley's superb painting blog springs immediately to mind!), but helpful criticism and positivity are always welcome.

Some of you may have seen my thread found here, that was trying to get some commissions where I woudl paint some troop models for free. Unfortunately, to date, I have only had one taker (I'm still willing to do this if anyone else is interested), as I think my excessive "wall-o-text" put a lot of people off. Tek, however, was not put off, and sent me ten Dire Avengers to paint for him. He specified the colours, provided a photo of some minis for me to match them to and pre-assembled and sprayed them. The first set of photos below is how they arrived, and then the second set show my first painting session with them. I've only started on 5 of them at the moment and have only done some of the work on the grey areas and base-coated the weapons. No, they're not particularly impressive at this stage, but you have to start at the beginning! Please excuse the quality of the photographs, the lighting is all wrong in here and it hardly shows any of the highlighting that I did...

Anyway, enough of my blithering....

Well, I've just completed the first five of the ten dire avengers for Tek. I've included the pictures below. I hope he approves!

Now to do the last five for him!

Thanks Tek. Glad you like them. I've painted the first coat of grey on the remaining five, and should get some more time painting tomorrow to get them to the stage the first set were in in my original post above. Will keep you posted though!

I've now finished the last five Dire Avengers and wanted to post piccies for Tek to see them. The only problem with that is that it's late and the only light I had available was the kitchen light - which is rubbish! They are obviously painted using the same colours as the previous five, but the light is a little yellow so has blurred them a little.

I hope you like them!

Some more models for you to have a look at. They are 10 AOBR Orks from a commission of 20. The other 10 will get painted next. The client asked for them all to be clothed in the same colours to make moving units easier, hence the blue, and they have all been painted to my 'tabletop standard'. I must say though that I was really unhappy with how the photos have come out. It is a really overcast day here and no matter what I tried with the lighting, I just couldn't get the photos looking right. In real life, the shading is much better, especially on the skin.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
