New Events for 2010! Battlefront’s Flames of War, Privateer Press, and More…

That’s right! For years we have heard your requests, and with a year under our belt at our new venue, AdeptiCon is answering the call! AdeptiCon 2010 will see additional space for even more events!

Stemming from our past partnership with Gale Force 9 (http://www.gf9.com), and drawing on the experience of AdeptiCon veterans Joe Krone and Dave Taylor, we are partnering with Battlefront to provide a full slate of Flames of War events over the weekend. Additionally, Dean Rapp and his GameKorps (http://www.gamekorps.net) group will be bringing their immense experience to AdeptiCon, helping run a series of high caliber Flames of War events.

AdeptiCon is also very excited to have Andrew Hartland (Privateer Press Ganger Extraordinaire) on board this year to help organize and run a full slate of Privateer Press events. Some of you may be familiar with Andrew’s work at Templecon (http://www.templecon.org/10/). Whether you play Warmachine, Hordes, Grind, or Monsterapocalypse…AdeptiCon will have a Privateer Press event on the 2010 schedule for you.

Are you still going to be able to get as much support from GW now that it's not GW only? Will GW Developers and other staff still be in attendance?

This might be good for gaming in general , but on the GW side this does not look so good.

It was already packed to start with , I don't see this helping the situation any.

GW pulled out their studio guest at the last minute last year, its unlikely that they would send anyone this year.

TobyDog: last year Adepticon used only 1 of the Westin's 3 ball rooms. Adding a second ball room was certainty for 2010 even before the addition of PP and FOW. I'm hoping we'll get all three now.

While having the Black and White ball on Saturday night was a nice change from the normal gamer look - it made getting to parts of the convention rather awkward.

I think the variety is a good thing to make it more of a gaming convention vs. a GW convention. I might actually go to it now.

    Ozymandias,

I expect the GW relationship will be as strong as ever. Ed Spettigue has some great things planned for the GW events moving forward. For our purposes nothing is changing on how we approach the GW Events at AdeptiCon. They are still our bread and butter. A focus area for us and all the same people that have been at the helm of that side of AdeptiCon are still at the helm. It is huge part of what we do as a convention that we are constantly looking to improve. But we have expanded over the years and this was a logical step. We got great things planned in a number of different areas more details to come.

As for space, as stated by Rich. We have exercised the option on the entire hotel so even with some additional events .. AdeptiCon 2010 will have more space than ever before.

If you listen to the D6 generation podcast segment I think Russ sums it up best .. and this is a golden opportunity for all sides to come together to enjoy the hobby.

    That's awesome news!

Utilizing another ballroom this year will (hopefully) get attendees out of the main ballroom and into the Specialist Games room.

I'll be running the Necromunda tournie again as well!

I think this is great news. While the 40k Team Tourney will still be 'the event', there's a lot to offer. The hobby seminars are a wonderful addition to the Con, and maybe this will attract people that play PP/FoW, and never would have gone just for the hobby seminars.

Muwhe, I'm not worried about you guys, I'm concerned that there will be some backlash from GW since this is now no longer a "GW Only" event.

So there is some concern on that end but kudos to you guys for making Adepticon even bigger.

And I will be there, I will, I will, I will!

If GW snubs the event because it's not just their games now, they really need to get over themselves. Alienating themselves even more will just pave the way for more and more 'other' games to enter the Adepticon scene over the years.
