last night i was playing a game with my manticore and it received a weapon destroyed result. does this mean that only 1 missile is destroyed cuz they are all on different missile racks? the more i think about it the more i think so.

I would say yes, only one missile is destroyed, as they are counted as seperate weapons.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

I'm going to have to say no - the entry in the IG codex lists it as one weapon (Storm Eagle Rockets) with a special rule of Limited Ammunition (may fire only four times) - it does not list four individual weapons.

EDIT: Compare it with something like the Valkyrie, which clearly lists "2 Hellstrike Missiles" in its wargear.

Actually, all the Rockets are gone. The manticore is NOT Armed with 4 Storm Eagle Rockets, it is armed with "Storm Eagle Rockets" (just once) and can fire a max of 4 times a battle.

Weapon Destroyed = Weapon Gone, regardless of how many times it has fired.

I tend to aggree with this. The missiles are seperate only one can be fired a turn and it has 4 of them.

Thanks, but I already know what myself and Gwar! have said

I was asking for reasons from the 'it's four separate weapons' camp

Sorry. You did.

I was quoting looking in the "Reply" window. . . and the posts are backwards.

-Le Gasp- Are you insinuating my good sir that those who proclaim the Manticore Rocket Launcher to be four Separate Weapon Systems for the purposes of a Damaged - Weapon Destroyed Result upon the vehicle damage table of the Tabletop game Warhammer 40,000 by Games Workshop Plc. are doing it as a direct result of my proclamation that such weapon system is in fact only a single system for the purposes Purposes of a Damaged - Weapon Destroyed Result upon the vehicle damage table of the Tabletop game Warhammer 40,000 by Games Workshop Plc.?

On the same (if somewhat inverse note) an empty Manticore still has two weapons to be destroyed before it moves up the damage chart

Hmm, I was wondering if Manticores might be effective. Good details to know.

I mad a group of magnetic Hydras and all I really need to make them manticores like the FW ones are big magnetic rockets on the sides (to swap for the magnetic autocannons).

Just think in terms of the turret functioning instead of the missiles.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
