Gonna have problems cracking Tanks with just the MB.

Take Lemartes, there's really no reason not to... Just don't use that craptacular model!

The 5-man squads are pretty fragile, but at 1000pts, that's probably unavoidable. Still, I'd be tempted to drop the Dread and bulk up some of the jump squads. You only have one vehicle, and it'll be target numero uno for any enemy AT weapons the instant it lands...

I was thinking about this when I got the Dread, but that's why I put it in a Drop Pod, hopefully I avoid the nasty AT weapons before getting a chance to charge. (It also has a meltagun attached to the other fist, so IT'S AT on the first turn as well. I think I'll follow your advice with Lemartes (-1 Leadership to enemy is AWESOME).

My theory was that the dread would take out heavy vehichles and such (how many are there gonna be in 1000pts match?) and I only gave the melta bombs to the Assualt Squads in case they're caught with thier pants down. If I were to get more assualt squads. (Which looking at the points would be more expensive than the Dread) by dropping the dread, then how am I gonna handle the big bad monsters on the field?

I've not had much luck with my Furioso in a pod. It can be hard to rely on it being there when it is needed.

You could trade the pod for more Powerfists and Plasma pistols, or an attack bike. While the plasma does risk "Gets Hot" You run a similar risk with scatter and reserve rolls.

The problem is (This being a DC dreadnought) if I deploy it normally, without knowing where my opponent is, then I run the risk of my DC dred just charging at the nearest enemy. Which could be wasted on a squad of gretchin...or worse, an AT squad. With a Drop pod at least I have SOME say in where my Dred goes.

Just deploy him close to Lemartes. Then you can either keep him on a tight leash, or move him so that the closest target is the one you want him to attack. I have found this to be effective for me. Sometimes your opponent will throw extra stuff to try and counter your scary DC and dread, leaving other forces thinner for your assault squads to deal with.

Drop the plasma pistols.

Get more powerfists and death company. (One of one, one of the other)

You wont have problems with standard tanks. You could have issues with AV14 with with the DC dread & the 1000pt game limit you shall be fine. Krak grenades, meltabombs and powerfists are ultimately better.

Oh and by the way, you can lead the dread with its melta gun. While it must move towards to the cloest unit in the movement phase (and assault that unit) it also must comply with the shooting assault weaponary rules and assault the target it shoots at, giving you a slight amount of flexibility.

Lemartes is all-around better.

1: take lem, just dont use his gakky model for it

2: drop the fur. dread, they are limited in what they do.

3: drop the plasma and combat shields, grab a fist instead.

4: take a vet assault squad, throw in meltaguns.
mobile melta fire is great!

5: ^ gives you another death company marine to tinker with.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.
