First, no the chapter is not a heretical one. Just one for the greater good. We prefer, excomunate traiters.
The army started as a swift change from ultramarines, then grew. And once the emporer started to suck badly, I changed the faith, to point at the greater good.
Mainly because space marines and tau work exeptionaly well together.
This will be filled with pictures of the army, and a few bits of fluff.
First, the colour scheme:
The orange shoulder pad shows their dedication the fire warrior ways, emphisising them as 'lava giants' around their shorter (tau) allies.
The black shoulder pad is a sign of respect for those they've lost, and as a sign that they have changed their ways, after seeing the benefits of the greater good.
I will add pics of the models soon, and comments and criticisms are well hoped for!
Plus, i shall add some fluff once i get round to fixing it.

I am confused as to how they're not heretics. Trafficing with Xenos is a good way to gain the tender attentions of the Inquisition. The chapter would be declared hereticus and hunted down with all the resources of the Imperium of Man.

Working pics should be here since this is a modelling and painting forum.
Fluff would fit better to 40k background.
PS: the greater good doesnt exist in the minds of space marines. Theyre happy with the common good, ie dead xenos....

If they're truly Corinthian, perhaps cavorting with Slaanesh is more appropriate?

Agreed. Space Marines would not join the greater good. They can be corrupted or possessed by chaos, but they need to be seduced by warp energies/daemons/the dark gods themselves. So they don't just "drop" ideology. They're the most fanatically loyal servants the Imperium has ever known (Aside from 'Teh Spehzz Nunz') So from a fluff angle, this army simply would not work. From a conversion/P&M angle though, I'm very interested in what they'll look like. But if you want a fluffy Tau/Human alliance army, do Gue'Vesa, which are Imperial Guard-turned-Tau Loyalists.

Yes they could. It's fantasy. ANYTHING could happen. If we believe all the fluff we read, then a demonic incursion always destroys every planet it gets near, and the Grey Knights also always obliterate every demon always. So yes.

By -Official- Fluff then, it wouldn't happen. And yes, Daemons do more or less destroy every world they attack. If they don't corrupt it beyond salvation they still often manage to corrupt it enough for the Inquisition to scream "CHEATERS! THEY'RE CHEATING! NO FAIR! USE EXTERMINATUS!". There haven't been many worlds that've survived a Daemon invasion without being terribly and irreversably crippled at best.
And where in the fluff does it say "Grey Knights also always obliterate every demon always"? If I recall, their Psychic wards only help them for so long.
So again, by -official- fluff, the story wouldn't work. We're told this from a narrative perspective. We're told this from a neutral observational point of view. The fluff in it's forms of explaination don't make use of propaganda or exaggeration. It points it out when and where it occurs in the fluff, but the narrative nature of the fluff itself makes no use of these two misleading forms of writing. I could see a Chapter putting a symbol on their armour as a tribute to a Tau army that generously saved a Captain or rescued and returned a Chapter Relic or somesuch, but a Chapter actually -joining- the Tau while the Emperor still 'lives' is way, way too out there.
Again though, I still think he should do it for the sake of some great conversion opportunities

I was thinking about the Soul Drinkers but yeah they got corrupted by Tzeentch. Yeah sorry to bag on your fluff but Space Marines joining Tau is as likely as Khorne giving Slaanesh a hug then high fiving Tzeentch. Only good story I could think of for fluff: SM Splinter group (Soul Drinkers style) that hates the imperium. Hunted by Inquisition and old chapter and when the splinter group is about to be wtfpwned the tau swoop in and save them and the marines learn about the greater good and take it as they are trying to unite the galaxy under one banner (what the emperor tried to do in the great crusade) and decide that they have better chanced joining the Tau then staying by themselves. This is still not very fluffy due to SM hating aliens of all kinds and Tau are trying to unite the galaxy under their leadership kinda like Communists / Dictator style. But yeah. The conversions should be neat lol ;P.

Right, i see.
First, i shall tell you all of the new thread that i shall start in ' 40k backgrounds' with all the fluff for the corinthian sons.
Secondly, as my camera chose this time to pack in, i shall get some modeling pictures in some time soon.
And lastly, here's a new picture of the colour scheme:

I say its your army and you do what you like. It makes painting all those minis that much easier, lol.
But I have to agree, without some incredibly enlightening event, SMs would not leave the side of the emperor.
Of course, if you look at the story of the Alpha Legion, it IS possible for the Marines to make an informed decision and change ideals. (I know its not official cannon yet, but read 'Legion' from the horus heresy series.)
You should have some massively epic event in their background showing them without a doubt that the 'Greater Good' is the only way to save humanity from the clutches of chaos and annihilation at the hands of the other xenos.
Besides folks, its a big universe, anything can happen!

Perhaps they were fighting on a world where there were Tau, and saw them saving humans from some kind of evilness, while the servants of the Emp just wanted to purge the entire world, even if it could be saved.
Thus spuring them to think a bit about what they are doing...
Either that, or they get pushed into doing things that really go against the grain for a greedy inquisitor, and see that the Impirum is just full of corruption etc, so they turn to the greater good.

Hmm... Bit too much red IMO. The Orange and black don't really stand out at all. Have you tried looking at a colour wheel? That'll tell you which colors provide really good contrast to eachother so that the mini catches the eye better

Except a Space Marine would tear out a Tau's heart with his teeth if said Tau ever tried to stick something up his superhuman corn-hole
