Has anyone noticed the similarities?

-Both command what is effectively magic.
-Both are trapped within their armour.
-Both have powerful weapons.
-Both serve higher masters.
-Both plan to betray their masters.



If anyone else thinks this I'd love to hear from you. Also, has anyone else noticed any similarities between special charecters and other figures in movies and films?

Ahriman isn't trapped in his armor. He sealed all the rubric marines in their armor as dust.

And Ahriman is more of a knowledge-seeker. He doesn't take part in battles that often, while Darth Vader goes around happily lopping heads off and choking people.

Well, it's true, hes not trapped in his armor. Vader was a Jedi assassin for the emperor, hunting down every last jedi... which in some ways may parallel with Ahriman as he hunts down all bits of knowledge he can from the Black Library (From what I know of his fluff).

On the other hand, I wouldn't particularly draw the similarities in weaponry, or powers really. The force is far different from Magic I'd have to say... Well, I'm a massive Star Wars fan and know more of it then of Warhammer 40k, maybe if I read more of this Ahriman I would see more parallels.

Ahriman is still a Space Marine. The Rubric's negative effects only affected the non-psychic TSons. All the legion's psykers became more powerful and the mutations stopped.

So it was just the Regular Marine's that went rubric, wait... so the Sorcerer's are still chaos marines?

That aside, "powerful weapons" and "effectively magic" are pretty broad categories. In terms of "higher masters", I don't think their relationships with Tzeentch and Palpatine are very similar.

Vader had a fatal weakness, his refusal to consider killing Luke. Ahriman has a purer purpose.

Ahriman's more like Cate Blanchett in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Don't you mean Magnus? He in some ways, plays the Vader to Tzeench's Palpatine ,The whole "exiled from the planet of the sorcerers" thing doesn't go well with the parallel, though.
